Job SummaryThe Quay Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on Red Hat Quay. In this role you will implement features and fixes, using the latest AI agentic tools, that will help to drive adoption and growth in the product. This role will work closely with Product Management and the rest of the Quay Engineering team on a day to day basis. The Quay team is highly collaborative and guides top performance in each other through a strong engineering culture, peer accountability and psychological safety.Responsibilities<ul><li>Design and develop new features and functionalities for Red Hat Quay, leveraging your expertise in Python, Go, Kubernetes, and database technologies to create maintainable code.</li><li>Implement fixes for bugs and security vulnerabilities (CVEs).</li><li>Work with Product Management to drive business and roadmap decisions around Quay. </li><li>Support Red Hat Quay by engaging with Technical Account Managers and Quality Engineers.</li><li>Increase community adoption and growth by participating in community meetings and reviewing open source contributions.  </li></ul>Required Skills<ul><li>5 or more years experience developing web applications in Python.</li><li>Experience with creating and maintaining Kubernetes Operators written in Go.</li><li>Experience with Postgres, Redis, and React.</li><li>Experience working with agentic tools, such as Claude Code, to deliver working software. </li><li>Comfortable using git, Linux to develop software.</li><li>Experience packaging applications in containers and deploying to Kubernetes.</li><li>Familiarity with OCI and the Distribution Specification.</li><li>Interest in supporting the <a href="http://quay.io" target="_blank">quay.io</a> service and participating in an on-call rotation.</li><li>Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.</li><li>Ability to work remotely and contribute effectively to a distributed, remote team.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for complex topics and issues.</li><li>Must be continuously curious and eager to learn new skills and topics.</li></ul>Nice to Have<ul><li>Interest in assisting with maintaining <a href="http://quay.io/" target="_blank">quay.io</a> through SRE experience.</li><li>Experience working with agentic tools, such as Claude Code, to deliver working software.</li></ul>#LI-AJ1#AI-HIRINGThe salary range for this position is $116,270.00 - $191,840.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay TransparencyRed Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
