The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for an OpenShift Virtualization and Infrastructure Architect to join us. In this role, you will design and guide implementations of Red Hat OpenShift infrastructure projects to include container and virtualization technologies. You wont be expected to know everything on day one, but your ability to learn new technology quickly will be essential. This is a remote based job that can be located anywhere in the United States, within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.What you will do:<ul><li>Deliver successful discovery, analysis and design workshops for small to medium teams of both technical and non-technical backgrounds that shape and influence the customer’s use cases and architecture design decisions.</li><li>Scope delivery projects and guiding customers through successful pilot and production deployments.</li><li>Design, create and delivery of content that enables the broader Red Hat organization to sell (presales), service (consulting) and support (GSS) our cloud solutions at scale.</li><li>Implement automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions with a focus on infrastructure concerns including networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, and high availability and system resilience</li><li>Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat’s services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk.</li><li>Learn new technologies quickly, including container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks </li><li>Travel frequently (30-40 weeks per year) to work alongside leading financial services, retail, telecommunications, and institutional customers. </li></ul>What you will bring: <ul><li>Experience in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology domain</li><li>Experience leading successful modern cloud platform consulting engagements</li><li>4+ years of experience in a Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect or Architect consulting delivery role </li><li>2+ years focused on cloud environments and their supporting infrastructures.</li><li>Broad and deep experience across the following technologies: Red Hat Openshift, Red Hat Virtualization, RHEL, Ansible and Artificial Intelligence.</li><li>Background in customer engagement with either a major consulting services organization, or within a services division of a major software company   </li><li>Experience across one or more vertical industry areas </li><li>Demonstrated track record of working in a strategic advisory role to senior IT and business executives, including extensive experience presenting to higher level  executives at large firms</li><li>Applied knowledge and experience working in agile, scrum, and DevOps teams</li><li>Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills</li><li>Willingness to travel to customer locations up to 30-40 weeks per year as needed</li><li>Desired Skills:<ul><li>Experience implementing a CI/CD pipeline</li><li>Deep technical experience with one or more virtualization and cloud technologies (e.g. OpenStack, RHEV, VMWare vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure)</li><li>Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with the Open Source communities via Email and IRC</li><li>Experience working in a QA role or working with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools is preferred</li><li>Familiarity with security fundamentals at the infrastructure (including cloud/hypervisor) and operating system level.</li></ul></li></ul>After joining Red Hat, you will go through an intensive training program on Kubernetes, and OpenShift technologies and related DevOps and GitOps topics. Heres how your skill set will evolve and what youll learn during your first year in the role:At 2 months, be prepared to join a project team by acquiring the following:<ul><li>Understanding of how to build production-ready container and virtualization platforms, integrated with existing enterprise systems</li><li>Knowledge of how to deploy source code into running, scalable containers and virtual machines in automated fashion at enterprise scale</li><li>Practical experience with our offerings</li></ul>Within 6 months, be ready to implement a routine container platform project by attaining the following:<ul><li>Successful, collaborative delivery of customer requirements using Red Hat OpenShift </li><li>Knowledge of how a customer use case can be developed into a project plan and how those requirements align with Red Hat’s technologies</li><li>Understanding of how Red Hat’s technologies can transform software delivery (DevOps/GitOps) practices at large organizations</li></ul>Within 12 months, begin to demonstrate technical leadership in container platforms by accomplishing the following:<ul><li>Successfully implementing complex, large-scale container platform solutions in challenging customer environments</li><li>Helping other consultants learn DevOps/GitOps paired with container technologies </li><li>Contributing lessons learned, best practices, and how-tos to our internal and external communities of practice</li><li>Applying new technologies, frameworks, or methodologies to container platforms</li></ul>The salary range for this position is $116,270.00 - $191,840.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay TransparencyRed Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
