This role is a critical part of our mission to radically improve lives by leveraging AI, automation, and one of the worlds largest biological and chemical datasets. The Director of Tax will be a hands-on leader responsible for managing all aspects of the companys tax function, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, and developing tax strategies that support our innovative and rapidly growing business. Please note: This position is a contract opportunity for 1 year. There may be an option to extend beyond that timeframe based on performance and business needs.  In This Role You Will: <ul> <li>Tax Strategy and Planning: <ul> <li>Drive and execute tax strategies that align with Recursions long-term business objectives and technology-driven drug discovery model.</li> <li>Establish, implement, and maintain a global transfer pricing strategy for intercompany transactions across our US, Canada, and UK operations</li> <li>Advise senior leadership on the tax implications of key business decisions.</li> <li>Lead the identification, calculation, and defense of valuable tax incentives specific to a tech-enabled biotech, such as federal R&amp;D tax credits.</li> <li>Proactively monitor and analyze changes in tax law, particularly those affecting the pharmaceutical and technology sectors, and communicate their impact on the company</li> </ul> </li> <li>Tax Compliance and Financial Reporting (ASC 740): <ul> <li>Collaborate with our 3rd party tax provider to accurately and timely prepare the filings of all federal, state, and local income tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions.</li> <li>Collaborate with our 3rd party tax provider on the quarterly and annual income tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740. This includes calculating current and deferred taxes, managing deferred tax assets and valuation allowances, and documenting uncertain tax positions (FIN 48/ASC 740-10).</li> <li>Ensure all tax-related disclosures in SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K) are prepared accurately and in compliance with U.S. GAAP.</li> <li>Collaborate with external auditors and advisors to ensure a smooth and efficient tax reporting and compliance process.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Tax Operations and Audits: <ul> <li>Manage all federal, state, and local tax audits, inquiries, and examinations.</li> <li>Maintain robust internal controls over tax processes, ensuring compliance with SOX 404(b) requirements.</li> <li>Oversee the management of non-income taxes, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other ad hoc filings.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> The Experience You’ll Need <ul> <li>Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required. Masters degree in Taxation and/or a CPA certification is strongly preferred.</li> <li>Experience: 10+ years of progressive multinational tax experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or director-level role.
