About the role: We are looking for an enthusiastic Junior Software Engineer to join our team. This position is ideal for early-career engineers eager to build technical skills, learn best practices and contribute to projects that make an impact in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment filled with experienced mentors. Collaborating with Engineering leaders, Product and Design, and your fellow Engineers, you’ll help make decisions and deliver projects that will lay the groundwork for Reach to help millions of Americans outsmart debt for good. What you will do:  <ul> <li> Work as part of a team building a modern, full stack B2C loan origination system as an augment to, and extension of, our existing technology platform </li> <li> Deliver high-quality, on-time features and bug fixes under the guidance of senior team members </li> <li> Take ownership of smaller features and gradually increase responsibility over time </li> <li> Contribute to testing efforts, including writing unit tests and participating in QA processes </li> <li> Participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving constructive feedback </li> <li> Collaborate within cross-functional teams including Product Manager, Product Designers, SDET, SRE and Platform engineers, and contribute to a positive team environment </li> <li> Work closely with senior engineers and your mentor to develop technical skills </li> <li> Follow established development workflows including version control, CI/CD, and deployment processes </li> <li> Learn and apply software engineering principles including design patterns, testing strategies, and debugging techniques </li> <li> Participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and sprint planning sessions </li> <li> Participate in team retrospectives and contribute ideas for process improvements </li> <li> Contribute to technical discussions and gradually develop your voice in architectural decisions </li> <li> Learn our technology stack, development processes, and business domain </li> <li> Communicate progress, blockers, and questions clearly and proactively </li> <li> Document your work and contribute to team knowledge sharing </li> </ul> What you should have:  <ul> <li> Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, OR equivalent practical experience </li> <li> 0-2 years of professional software development experience </li> <li> Solid understanding of programming fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming </li> <li> Basic understanding of web development concepts (HTTP, APIs, databases) </li> <li> Experience with at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript) </li> <li> Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git) </li> <li> Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) </li> <li> Understanding of software testing principles and practices </li> <li> Exposure to agile development methodologies </li> <li> Open to explore and learn Salesforce development for employee-facing tool use cases </li> <li> Eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment </li> <li> Strong communication skills and ability to ask thoughtful questions </li> <li> Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail </li> <li> Collaborative mindset and enjoys working as part of a team </li> <li> Self-motivated with good time management skills </li> <li> Comfortable with ambiguity and changing requirements </li> <li> Passionate about technology and building great software </li> <li> Familiar and experienced with latest AI tools: LLMs, MCPs, etc </li> </ul> Nice to haves: <ul> <li> Familiarity with financial lending concepts </li> <li> Internship or co-op experience in software development </li> <li> Familiarity or experience with our tech stack (Salesforce, JavaScript, Python) </li> </ul> What is it like working at Reach Financial?
