The mission of the Global Country Management Department is lead Rakuten Travel and its partners to travelers in Japan and around the world, orchestrating various organizations in the business.
As Rakuten Travel has grown to become the No. 1 service in Japan in terms of number of users, we are looking for team members who will work together to evolve the service based on the responsibility that the evolution of Rakuten Travel will lead to the evolution of the travel industry.

Position Details
The Legal and Compliance Specialist will manage daily legal and compliance operations in global, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations. Reporting to the Legal and Compliance Manager, you will support business expansion through effective risk management. You are expected to be an experienced professional with strong analytical skills, business acumen, and exemplary work ethics. Your goal is to navigate legal complexities and ensure compliance, contributing to the company’s global success and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities include:
Assist the Legal and Compliance Manager to:
Design and implement legal strategies, plans, and procedures.
Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth in legal and compliance areas.
Oversee daily operations of the Legal and Compliance Group and collaborate with other functional teams.
Assess and enhance the efficiency of internal and external legal and compliance processes.
Lead and motivate the legal and compliance team to achieve targets and organizational objectives.
Work Environment
Global Country Management Department – Legal & Compliance Group: 1 manager and 1 member (department has over 30 members)
We are a diverse group of individuals from various cultural backgrounds, ranging in age from 20s to 40s. Our main language of communication is English, though Japanese is also necessary for certain communications.
Mandatory Qualifications:
Experience in legal and compliance or relevant roles
Understanding business functions such as marketing, sales, customer service, HR, finance, etc.
Demonstrate competency in strategic planning and business development
Excellent interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications:
JD, LLM or BA of Law
Qualified attorney in any jurisdictions
Languages:
English: Fluent
Japanese: Advanced (desirable but not required)
