About the Role Platform Science is looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join a team responsible for the legacy Java and PHP applications running on distributed Linux devices that must remain stable, secure, and compliant across a wide range of technologies and challenges. This position may also require leading and coordinating work within the team and across other groups. Essential Responsibilities <ul> <li>Work support tickets from the customer-facing Integration Services team covering Linux, Java or PHP issues</li> <li>Review and update custom PHP or Java solutions as needed.</li> <li>Develop fixes or features in the back-end Java application or front-end PHP UI.</li> <li>Develop new APIs or streaming solutions.</li> <li>Automate and implement systems that improve reliability, security and operational efficiency.</li> <li>Participate in and lead project work to enhance existing infrastructure.</li> <li>Collaborate with other teams to deliver cross-functional solutions.</li> <li>Document new solutions and present overviews to stakeholders.</li> </ul> Experience <ul> <li>PHP back-end and front-end application support and development</li> <li>Java 21 back-end application support and development</li> <li>Solid understanding of Linux (Rocky or Ubuntu distributions)</li> <li>Solid understanding of databases such as MS SQL, MySQL/MariaDB, DB2, Oracle</li> <li>Experience with Ansible or Python</li> <li>Experience with Grafana and Prometheus</li> <li>Experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, Azure.</li> <li>Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices</li> <li>Commitment to QA testing and delivering quality code</li> <li>Advanced English.</li> </ul> Will be considered a plus <ul> <li>Completed Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.</li> <li>Proven leadership experience, including leading and coordinating engineering work.</li> <li>Linux System Administration experience with RPM builds, GitHub, Ansible AWX, Nexus repos and .sh scripting</li> <li>Experience with network and firewall administration</li> <li>Experience with RabbitMQ and/or Kafka</li> <li>Experience with a transformation tool such as Boomi, MuleSoft, Informatica, SnapLogic, Talend, Jitterbit, Celigo, Cheetah Transformation, or Workato</li> <li><a href="http://node.js">Node.js</a> experience</li> <li>Knowledge of the transportation industry</li> <li>Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or Backstage</li> <li>Dealing with ambiguity</li> <li>Cloud certifications.</li> </ul> Platform Science collects your personal information to support its business operations, including for human resources, employment, benefits administration, health and safety, and other business-related purposes as well as to be in legal compliance.
