Acting as a strategic business partner, you will ensure our operations remain fast and compliant as we scale – owning key legal areas including corporate governance, commercial contracts, compliance, and fundraising. You’ll work cross-functionally to mitigate risks, streamline processes, and coordinate with external experts, all while preparing the company for international expansion. Your impact will be felt not only in protecting the business, but in actively accelerating its growth.

Key Objectives

  • Build Legal Foundations for Scale: Establish core governance structures, agreements, and compliance frameworks to support plancraft’s growth. Start by reviewing and streamlining key documents, templates, and policies.
  • Support Fundraising & Shareholder Relations: Lead the legal preparation for the upcoming funding round, ensuring due diligence readiness and smooth negotiation of investment documents—particularly the shareholder agreement. Act as the primary legal contact for investors and the board.
  • Lead Fundraising Legal Work: Own the legal side of the fundraising process: manage due diligence, negotiate with investors, and draft shareholder agreements. Be the go-to legal partner for investor and board interactions.
  • Ensure Compliance & Manage Risk: Implement practical compliance measures, especially related to data privacy and regulatory obligations. Proactively identify and mitigate key risks across contracts, HR, and product.
  • Streamline Legal Operations & Contracts: Standardize core templates, accelerate contract review processes, and support teams in executing fast and secure deals. Where useful, introduce simple legal tech tools to manage contracts and documentation more efficiently.
  • Conduct Stakeholder Legal Audits: Run structured legal check-ins with key stakeholders (Founders, Finance, People, Revenue, Product) to surface legal risks, recurring needs, and quick wins across the organization.
  • Develop Legal Budget & Counsel Strategy: Create an initial legal budget and design a strategy for engaging and managing external counsel in a cost-effective and coordinated way.


KPIs & Success Metrics
  • Successful Fundraising Execution: Series B legal work (e.g. due diligence docs) completed fully and on time; round closes with minimal legal friction.
  • Legal Support for International Expansion: New legal entities established on schedule with full compliance in each jurisdiction.
  • Contract Efficiency: High volume of contracts reviewed with fast turnaround – e.g. X business days on average for standard NDAs or sales agreements.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: 100% of mandatory trainings completed, no major incidents or avoidable legal issues; audits passed without critical findings.
  • Cost-Effective Legal Spend: External legal costs remain within budget; in-house handling prioritized for efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Feedback: Satisfaction rate from internal teams on legal’s quality, speed, and business support.
Must-Have Skills

  • Fully qualified lawyer in Germany (2. Staatsexamen) or equivalent experience. Strong preference for candidates with in-house, venture-backed, or international legal experience.
  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience (law firm and/or in-house)
  • Strong knowledge in corporate, contract, and data protection law
  • Experience working on venture fundraising or M&A transactions
  • Highly structured, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented mindset
  • Proactive communicator with high accountability and ownership
  • Business fluent in German and English - both written (contract drafting) and verbal
  • This position can either be performed on site at our Hamburg HQ with a hybrid working model or remotely across Germany

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with SaaS business models and recurring revenue contracts
  • Experience with legal tech tools or contract lifecycle management (CLM)
  • Exposure to labor law, IP, or international structuring
  • Legal operations or startup experience
