This role is for the East Coast only. Oura in other major cities (like Boston and New York) occasionally gather informally at local co-working locations.

We are looking for a Senior AI Scientist to join us to pioneer in the frontline of health AI. You will be one of the founding AI scientists developing genAI-powered capacities and features for Oura’s next-gen products.

What you will do:

Design and optimize generative AI models, including LLMs, VAEs, and diffusion models, for applications like NLP and time-series forecasting in the health and wellness domain. Enhance efficiency for edge AI using model compression, quantization, and knowledge distillation.
Develop evaluation frameworks, metrics, and high-quality datasets to assess model effectiveness for health and wellness. Especially focus on curating and building datasets for training, validation, and benchmarking to ensure reliability, interpretability, and clinical relevance.
Systematically monitor and refine AI models through iterative improvements, leveraging real-world performance data, user feedback, and A/B testing.
Work closely with other scientists, engineers, and product teams to integrate AI-driven features into Oura’s products in the most efficient way.
Keep up with advancements in generative AI, assess their applicability to health and wellness, and experiment with new techniques to maintain Oura’s technological edge.
Implement safeguards against bias, hallucinations, and misinformation while ensuring AI models uphold transparency, fairness, and user privacy.

We would love to have you on our team if you:

Have a PhD degree in computer science, machine learning, biomedical engineering or related fields with 1+ years work experience
Have industrial experience in developing and deploying generative AI models into production (LLMs, VAEs, GANs, diffusion models)
Have 3+ years of solid programming experience in Python and code collaboration tools (git, peer review, etc).
Have 3+ years of experience using ML frameworks (PyTorch etc) (edge AI optimization experience is a huge plus).
Passionate about genAI applications in health and wellness domain
Have a pragmatic can-do attitude and delivery-focused mindset: you can move quickly and prioritize effectively
Have good asynchronous communication skills and can accommodate occasional off hour meetings to work with Oura’s European teams
