<div><span>Orbital Sidekick (OSK) is seeking a Senior Geospatial Software Engineer to join the software engineering team building SIGMA, our system for processing imagery and delivering insights to customers.  In this role you will design and code production data pipelines to calibrate, rectify, analyze and otherwise process hyperspectral imagery (HSI) from our GHOSt satellite constellation.  Additionally, you will work closely with our payload &amp; analytics teams to bring research algorithms to the SIGMA platform. This is an implementation rather than a research or data science role.</span></div><div><br /></div><div><span>Space is in our DNA. Orbital Sidekick is establishing a space-based infrastructure of HSI sensors and analytic capabilities to enable real-time monitoring, detection, and risk management.</span></div><h3>What Youll Do</h3><ul><li>Implement image processing algorithms for an automated production environment</li><li>Build tools to manage &amp; monitor the processing system and imagery catalog</li><li>Build APIs to make imagery &amp; insights available to customers (both internal and external)</li><li>Collaborate with the product team to determine feature priorities</li><li>Collaborate with the satellite payload and analytics teams to implement new or improved image processing operations</li><li>Break down &amp; plan features &amp; services for incremental delivery</li></ul><h3>What You’ll Need To Succeed</h3><ul><li>5+ years of experience writing geospatial code in Python</li><li>Extensive knowledge of GDAL, Rasterio, xarray, and other code libraries for handling raster data</li><li>Extensive knowledge of cloud computing deployments (e.g., AWS) and Linux environments</li><li>Experience with orchestration technologies (e.g., AWS Step Functions)</li><li>Experience with serverless compute (e.g., AWS Fargate and Lambda)</li><li>Experience writing code for a production environment</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Effective collaboration skills to work with a remote team</li></ul><h3>Experience That Will Give You an Advantage</h3><ul><li>Knowledge of imaging principles</li><li>Knowledge of remote sensing analytics, earth sciences and/or geography</li><li>Experience with machine learning</li><li>Experience with OGC APIs, STAC, or similar open source geospatial technologies</li><li>Experience with US government imagery requirements (e.g., NITF image format)</li><li>Experience with AWS CDK or CloudFormation</li></ul><div>Orbital Sidekick is committed to building a community where everyone belongs and we invite people from all backgrounds to apply.
