We are a 2025 Crain’s Fast 50™ company and were named on Built Ins 2025 Best Places to Work in Chicago.</p></div><p><strong>About the job:</strong></p> <p>This role is within Oppfi Operational Risk Organization, with close partnerships with the business owners from Ops, Product, Marketing, and Credit.</p> <p><strong>What you get to do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Execute various strategies and process-improvement efforts across OppFi to improve risk-management, control-design and co-execution of internal/Bank processes.</li> <li>Perform root cause analysis for risk issues (e.g., issues, complaints, defects, findings etc.) with compelling reporting for all organizational levels to improve overall change-management capabilities (e.g., new initiatives). </li> <li>Independently validate resolutions to ensure they adequately address root cause and evaluate where resolutions and/or corrective actions are sustainable.  Oversee documentation and evidence provided to support the closure and remediation of issues.</li> <li>Establish escalation protocols associated with issues and/or reporting as needed to drive appropriate ownership, resolution and accountability.  </li> <li>Develop reporting and trend analytics for operation risk exposure and mitigation activities. </li> <li>Prepare and support business partners for internal and external exam management from self-disclosure identification, engagement, and final report remediations.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What you will bring to the team:</strong></p> <ul> <li>At least 3+ years of work experience in the area(s) of banking, compliance and risk management and process engineering.   </li> <li>Hands-on, relevant experience designing and operationalizing financial service operations with knowledge of consumer regulatory risks (e.g., SCRA, Fair Lending, UDAAP, AML/BSA, Privacy etc.)  </li> <li>Experience in Financial Services sector (e.g., banking, insurance, payment), FinTech, and/or knowledge with digital financial products and platforms</li> <li>Passion for driving transformation or change projects and ability to surface and implement opportunities for innovation and improvement.  </li> <li>Broad risk management experience with an understanding of the three lines of defense, approaches for assessing inherent risk, evaluating control effectiveness and the ability to identify and evaluate trends, identify root cause, and provide quick/thorough resolution.  </li> <li>Understanding compliance management systems including experience in complaints management and customer-level remediation.</li> <li>Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal/team-management skills</li> <li>Strong analytical capabilities and ability to interact and effectively present to all levels in an organization including C-suite stakeholders and regulators (as required).</li> <li>Bachelors degree in a related field, or advanced degree</li> <li>SQL experience needed to obtain data and drive analytics to identify emerging risks<br /><br /></li> </ul> <p><strong>Reports to:  Manager, Operational Risk</strong></p> <p><strong>Job Level:  Associate</strong></p><div><div><div><p><strong>Total Rewards and Benefits: </strong></p> <p>At OppFi, we are committed to fostering a fair and equitable workplace.
