With this continued growth, Onebrief is able to make an impact where it matters most.<h2>About the Role</h2>We’re looking for a Staff Test Automation Engineer to partner with our Quality Platform Engineering team in shaping how we define and deliver quality across the organization.In this role, you’ll help enhance our release process and release integrity, drive automation-first initiatives, and establish quality metrics and standards that raise the bar for how we build, test, and deliver software. You’ll think beyond traditional testing, focusing on CI/CD quality improvements, internal tooling, performance testing, and enablement initiatives that empower teams to move faster with confidence.We’re looking for someone with a systems-level mindset and a passion for measuring and improving quality through automation, who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo and innovate in how we release and validate our product.<h2>About You</h2>You’re an experienced quality engineer who brings both technical depth and a strong sense of ownership to how software is tested and released. You take pride in building systems that make quality measurable, scalable, and reliable. You collaborate closely with engineers and designers to create patterns and practices that help teams ship high-quality software with confidence.You’re thoughtful, analytical, and disciplined in your approach, but also creative in how you identify opportunities to improve release integrity, automation, and performance. As a member of our growing Quality team, you’ll play an important role in shaping how we build, test, and deliver products that matter.<h2>What Youll Do</h2>As a Staff Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping how we measure, improve, and scale quality across the organization. You’ll partner closely with Quality Engineering, SRE, Customer Relations and Product to strengthen release integrity, improve observability around quality health, and build the internal tools and frameworks that make high-quality delivery repeatable and efficient.<ul><li>Defining and implementing strategies that improve release integrity — from automation in CI/CD pipelines to validation processes that increase confidence in deployments.</li><li>Designing and instrumenting quality health metrics and dashboards that give teams clear visibility into product stability, release readiness, and test effectiveness.</li><li>Driving internal tooling initiatives that improve the developer experience and enable teams to test, measure, and ship with higher confidence.</li><li>Partnering across engineering, infrastructure, and product to identify opportunities for system-level quality improvements and advocate for automation-first approaches.</li><li>Using data and experimentation to continuously refine our approach to quality and ensure we’re focusing on the most impactful areas.</li><li>Working with your fellow engineers to develop first class quality measures that align with overall quality strategy, with a focus on monitoring and observability</li></ul><h2>What We Look For:</h2>Required:<ul><li>Deep understanding of modern quality engineering practices, with the judgment to know when to apply or adapt them pragmatically.</li><li>Strong technical foundation in release management, automation frameworks, and CI/CD systems, with experience improving release reliability through data-driven quality initiatives.</li><li>7+ years of experience building and maintaining test automation at multiple layers (integration, end-to-end) for complex web applications (React or similar), using modern languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.</li><li>Proven experience driving shift-left quality practices that improve code quality, deployment confidence, and developer velocity.</li><li>Hands-on experience with performance, resilience, and security testing, including integration of those checks into CI/CD pipelines and observability systems.</li><li>Experience building internal tools or developer utilities that enhance testability, observability, and overall release integrity.</li><li>Strong understanding of API quality, including contract validation and dependency testing in distributed systems.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to mentor and influence engineers on quality ownership and best practices across teams.</li><li>Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement. </li></ul>Nice to haves:<ul><li>Experience maintaining or building declarative CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).</li><li>Familiarity with visual regression testing, performance tooling (k6, JMeter, Artillery), or distributed system fault injection.</li><li>Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes).</li><li>Familiarity with observability stacks like Grafana, Kibana, or Prometheus.</li></ul>Most importantly, you are a true Onebriefer:<ul><li>You are obsessed with creating value for real users</li><li>You are ambitious, scrappy, and a creative problem-solver</li><li>You learn quickly, work iteratively, and naturally seek collaboration</li><li>You approach your work with integrity, intellectual honesty, and a low ego</li><li>You communicate frankly, clearly, and succinctly</li><li>You thrive as a self-starter, embracing autonomy and ambiguity</li></ul>
