This team is responsible for data consumption and extraction between Onebrief systems and our partners in the military. Your approach is systematic, data-driven, and strategic, with a proven ability to deliver high-value outcomes quickly and efficiently.<h1>What you’ll do</h1><ul><li>Platform Development: Design and build secure, scalable, and reliable data pipelines, warehouses, and external API capabilities for supporting external developers.</li><li>Lead Technology Improvements: Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving external developer experience and decreasing time-to-market for future external integrations.</li><li>Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, DevOps, and SREs, Leveraging your communication skills to ensure effective teamwork.</li><li>Team Building: Grow, develop and lead a team of engineers focusing on back-end operations. Mentor and support the growth of both your team and your peers</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2>Leadership &amp; Management Experience:<ul><li>3+ years of experience managing engineers, including responsibility for hiring, career growth, performance reviews, and team development</li><li>I5+ years in backend or data engineering, ideally with experience in API design, data ingestion, or integration platforms.</li><li>Proven ability to mentor and coach engineers in fast-moving or early-stage environments</li><li>Experience leading cross-functional projects in collaboration with product managers and designers</li></ul>Technical Expertise:<ul><li>5+ years of backend or data engineering experience</li><li>Strong understanding of designing and maintaining APIs for external use, including managing authentication, versioning, and developer onboarding</li><li>Experience working with data pipelines, file imports and exports, and handling evolving data models</li><li>Familiarity with system design patterns, scalable infrastructure, and distributed architectures</li></ul>Platform &amp; Delivery Focus:<ul><li>Demonstrated success delivering systems that are secure, scalable, and reliable over time</li><li>Experience improving developer experience, documentation, and support for integration use cases</li><li>Comfortable owning system quality and performance over the long term, including observability, testing, and support processes</li></ul>Communication &amp; Collaboration:<ul><li>Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences</li><li>Strong writing and coordination skills in distributed or remote-first work environments</li><li>Brings a collaborative, low-ego leadership style focused on building trust and clarity</li></ul>Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):<ul><li>Background in integration platforms or developer-facing tools</li><li>Experience in government, regulated industries, or high-trust technical environments</li><li>Familiarity with structured planning processes and initiative-based development cycles</li></ul>
