We focus on reliability, automation, and developer experience at scale.</p> <h3>About the Role</h3> <p>We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform Application Services team. In this role, you’ll lead the design, development, and evolution of core backend services and data pipelines that power developer productivity and platform reliability across Okta.</p> <p>You’ll drive technical direction, mentor teammates, and collaborate across teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions that serve millions of users worldwide.</p> <p>If you thrive on solving complex system challenges, building automation at scale, and raising the technical bar for your peers, this role is for you.</p> <h3>What You’ll Do</h3> <ul> <li>Design, build, and maintain Golang-based backend services supporting critical platform capabilities.</li> <li>Build and maintain Postgres-backed systems for performance, reliability, and scalability, including data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC) workflows.</li> <li>Familiar with CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, safe, and reliable service delivery.</li> <li>Lead architectural discussions and technical decisions for new features and platform initiatives.</li> <li>Identify and consolidate redundant tools and services to reduce complexity across teams.</li> <li>Champion best practices in software design, observability, and operational excellence.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align on technical direction and deliver solutions that scale globally.</li> <li>Provide mentorship, code reviews, and technical guidance to other engineers.</li> <li>Participate in on-call rotation to maintain platform availability and reliability.</li> </ul> <h3>What You’ll Bring</h3> <ul> <li>4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and maintaining distributed backend systems.</li> <li>Proficiency in Golang and strong knowledge of backend development best practices.</li> <li>Experience with Postgres, including schema design, query optimization, and operational management.</li> <li>Hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC) systems.</li> <li>Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery workflows.</li> <li>Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, and systems design.</li> <li>Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor others, and influence engineering direction.</li> <li>Experience building resilient, high-availability services that operate at scale.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills and a passion for sharing knowledge through documentation and collaboration.</li> <li>A proactive, growth-oriented mindset—continually seeking ways to improve systems and processes.</li> </ul> <h3>Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Skills)</h3> <p>Technical Skills</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Elasticsearch, Lucene, or similar for distributed indexing and search.</li> <li>Familiarity with gRPC and microservices architectures.</li> <li>Exposure to TypeScript, JavaScript, or Node.js in a service-oriented environment.</li> </ul> <p>Cloud &amp; Infrastructure</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.</li> <li>Experience deploying and operating services in AWS and/or Azure environment</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>#LI-Remote</p> <p>P20109_3255797</p><div><div><div><p>Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.
