This is a </span><b>critical senior hire</b><span> with full ownership of safeguarding responsibilities across our regulated entities. The successful candidate will be based in </span><b>London</b><span> and will be accountable for ensuring regulatory compliance, effective liquidity oversight, and execution of NIUM’s treasury framework.</span></div><div><br /></div><div><span>This role will work cross-functionally with Finance, Compliance, Legal, and Product teams and serve as a key point of contact for regulatory and audit engagements related to safeguarding.</span></div><div><br /></div><div><b>Responsibilities</b></div><h3>Safeguarding (Primary Accountability)</h3><ul><li>Serve as the <b>accountable safeguarding owner</b> across all NIUM entities where applicable.</li><li>Maintain and continuously update the safeguarding policy and procedures in compliance with <b>FCA, EEA, MAS</b>, and other relevant regulations as NIUM’s entities and licences grow.</li><li>Oversee daily safeguarding reconciliations, asset segregation, and safeguarding fund optimisation.</li><li>Ensure readiness for <b>audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting</b> on safeguarded funds.</li><li>Work with Legal/Compliance to assess and implement permissible safeguarding investment options.</li><li>Work with Product and Engineering teams to deliver technical capabilities and reduce operational risk.</li></ul><h3>Cash Management</h3><ul><li>Oversee daily cash positions across multiple currencies and corridors.</li><li>Implement and manage short-term liquidity forecasts and <b>funding needs</b> for operational and safeguarded flows.</li><li>Support pre-funding frameworks, including risk-based allocation models across customers and corridors.</li><li>Optimise NIUM’s <b>own-fund usage and liquidity buffers</b> while maintaining regulatory compliance.</li></ul><h3>Treasury Operations &amp; Governance</h3><ul><li>Maintain robust treasury policies, SOPs, and internal control frameworks</li><li>Lead operational excellence in <b>banking infrastructure</b>, payment rail access, and account setup</li><li>Actively manage bank relationships and monitor key treasury SLAs</li><li>Collaborate on system upgrades and treasury automation opportunities</li></ul><h3>Reporting &amp; Risk Monitoring</h3><ul><li>Deliver <b>timely and accurate reports</b> on cash positions, safeguarding levels, liquidity coverage, and reconciliation status.</li><li>Support Board/Committee updates on safeguarding health and risk metrics.</li><li>Work with Finance to support <b>statutory audit requests and treasury-related disclosures.</b></li></ul><h3>Requirements</h3><ul><li><b>10 years</b> in a treasury, finance, or risk role, preferably within a regulated EMI, fintech, bank, or payments company.</li><li>Hands-on experience with <b>safeguarding frameworks</b> under FCA, MAS, or EU rules.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of multi-currency operations, liquidity planning, and banking operations.</li><li>Exposure to <b>audits, regulatory reviews</b>, or interaction with financial supervisors is a plus.</li><li>Strong financial acumen with advanced Excel and treasury tool proficiency.</li><li>Clear communicator with ability to influence across functions.</li><li>Highly organised with strong documentation, reconciliation, and controls mindset.</li><li>Able to operate independently with full ownership and accountability.</li></ul><div><b>What we offer at Nium </b> </div><div> </div><div><b>We Value Performance:</b> Through competitive salaries, performance bonuses, sales commissions, equity for specific roles and recognition programs, we ensure that all our employees are well rewarded and incentivized for their hard work. </div><div><br /></div><div><b>We Care for Our Employees:</b> The wellness of Nium’ers is our #1 priority.
