This position requires a hands-on approach and the ability to work independently with internal and external contacts. Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Manage indirect tax compliance process, working closely with external tax firms to ensure accurate and timely completion of non-income tax compliance obligations including property tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and other miscellaneous telecommunication filings</li> <li>Research and document sales/use and telecom tax issues, keep current on transaction tax developments and communicate tax-related legislative developments, opportunities and exposures</li> <li>Review monthly tax accruals for accuracy and work with accounting units as needed for proper reconciling of tax accounts</li> <li>Ensure processes are in place to obtain sales tax exemption certificates and periodically audit those processes for compliance</li> <li>Participate in ERP system’s design, maintenance, and implementation related to indirect tax matters to ensure compliance, enhance efficiency, and minimize exposure</li> <li>Develop, document, and implement relevant tax policies and processes as our business continues to grow and expand into new markets</li> <li>Partner with accounting, FP&amp;A and other groups to develop successful long-term strategic relationships with internal partners</li> <li>Evaluate process opportunities and implement ways to drive efficiency, automation and tax optimization opportunities</li> <li>Oversee indirect tax audits and resolve tax notices, working closely with our external tax firm</li> <li>Maintain a forward-looking perspective by remaining abreast of industry and tax developments</li> <li>Assist with special projects and company initiatives</li> </ul> Qualifications: <ul> <li>Bachelors degree in accounting/tax required</li> <li>7-10 years of relevant tax experience, with an emphasis on Indirect Taxes (Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax)</li> <li>Research and analytical skills, including strong written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>The ability to communicate and drive improvements in tax practices and processes</li> <li>Ability to work independently, willingness to roll-up sleeves with a positive can do attitude</li> <li>Experience in the technology and/or telecom industry preferred but not required</li> <li>Experience working with large data sets a plus</li> <li>Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CMI preferred</li> <li>Tax system knowledge preferred</li> </ul>   Nextiva DNA (Core Competencies) Nextiva’s most successful team members share common traits and behaviors: <ul> <li>Drives Results: Action-oriented with a passion for solving problems.
