What we’re looking for: 

Nexamp is growing our Community Engagement team and looking to hire a Community Outreach Manager who is motivated, community-focused to help us build trust, establish relationships, and drive participation in our Community Solar (CS) program within the Versant Bangor Hydro area. This role is essential to filling projects and expanding Nexamp’s presence in the region.

This role will be working remotely out of the Versant Bangor Hydro area.  

What you’ll do:

  • Strategic Responsibilities: 
    • Develop and implement a long-term strategy for community engagement to ensure sustained presence, trust, and impact in the Bangor region.  
    • Identify and cultivate key community stakeholders to support broader outreach and collaboration across local networks 
    • Serve as a point of contact with Nexamp’s Public Relations partner
    • Lead the planning and execution of multiple community events throughout the year, including logistics, scheduling, promotion, and partnership coordination.
  • Customer Acquisition & Sales:
    • Identify, educate, and enroll small businesses & eligible nonprofits to participate in the program. 
    • Persuade residents and businesses to switch from other providers to Nexamp’s Community Solar program.
    • Secure referral partners for residential customers.
    • Effectively communicate Nexamp’s value proposition, energy savings, and environmental impact. 
  • Community Engagement & Outreach: 
    • Conduct on-the-ground outreach to build relationships with nonprofits, local organizations, and community leaders to introduce Nexamp’s energy credit donation initiative.
    • Educate communities about how Community Solar works and how they can benefit through direct interaction, presentations, or other educational activities.
    • Gather community feedback to improve Nexamp processes. 
  • Reporting & Analysis: 
    • Track outreach contacts, community feedback, and enrollment progress through reports.
    • Share progress on outreach performance as-needed basis to management .
    • Optimize outreach strategies based on data & analysis of outreach results. 
  • Future Planning:
    • Assist in identifying and setting up a small satellite office or coworking space to support regional operations and provide a consistent community presence.  
    • Recruit and manage volunteers and event staff to support outreach and event operations.  

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, similar to; strategic planning for direct sales, community outreach, political canvassing, or other similar campaigns.
  • Management-level experience in door-to-door canvassing, ideally in political campaigns, community organizing, or grassroots sales.
  • Partnership management or sales experience with non-profits or small businesses preferred.
  • Strong community connections or ability to build trust quickly in Bangor and the surrounding area.
  • Self-motivated, outgoing, and excellent at face-to-face communication.
  • Comfortable working independently and in an incentive-based role.
  • Passionate about clean energy, sustainability, and making a local impact.
  • Commitment to Nexamps mission and have a passion for solving tomorrows climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.   
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
