Whether its exclusive interviews, red carpet roundups, or deep dives into Hollywood happenings, the Entertainment desk keeps readers in the know—and always entertained.We are seeking an experienced Entertainment Reporter (Mon-Fri, 2pm-10pm) to join our entertainment digital team. We are looking for someone who loves all things entertainment and can think strategically, collaborate effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced breaking news environment.Note: The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 2pm-10pm.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Generate and craft 7-8 SEO-optimized news stories related to entertainment daily, leveraging expertise in TV, film, music, and celebrity content to produce high-quality, engaging pieces with clean and compelling copy while meeting stringent deadlines</li><li>Strategically analyze the daily entertainment news cycle and trending topics to identify relevant and engaging story angles</li><li>Collaborate seamlessly with various departments, including social media, video, and photo, to enhance daily news coverage and present stories effectively across different platforms</li><li>Cultivate and maintain relationships with industry contacts, leveraging extensive network connections to secure exclusive interviews, access breaking news, and enhance the depth and breadth of entertainment coverage</li><li>Demonstrate initiative and self-motivation by making informed decisions and working independently in a fast-paced news environment</li><li>Remain adaptable and ready to assist with editing tasks as necessary, contributing to the overall quality and success of the content produced</li><li>Conduct on-camera interviews, and present engaging video segments for online platforms and social media channels, as needed</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>At least 5 years of experience in entertainment and breaking news, with a strong portfolio of published articles covering TV, film, music and celebrity content</li><li>Extensive knowledge pulling and reading through court documents for accurate reporting, comfortable cold calling to enhance story details, and the ideal candidate will have a substantial network of industry contacts</li><li>Crucial that the candidate can balance writing quick turnaround news stories and also pivot to breaking exclusive reporting and digging. Capable of writing both 400-word news items and also longer feature reads is a must</li><li>A deep understanding of and passion for all things celebrity and entertainment</li><li>Capability to craft concise, attention-grabbing headlines and produce polished, publication-ready content</li><li>Existing relationships with industry representatives and sources.</li><li>Demonstrated exceptional news judgment, as well as outstanding writing and reporting abilities</li><li>Proficiency in time management and multitasking, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines effectively</li><li>Deep understanding of SEO principles and the ability to optimize content accordingly</li><li>Knowledge of traffic analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Parse.ly, and an understanding of how to utilize them effectively</li><li>Strong knowledge of the entertainment industry, including current trends and key players</li><li>Experience with content management systems, particularly WordPress, as well as proficiency in photo editing software</li><li>Expected to deliver exclusive content and must have a proven track record of doing so</li><li>Excellent on-camera presence and comfortability in front of the camera</li><li>Flexibility in covering live pop culture events (i.e. Oscars, Golden Globes, etc.) and working outside traditional business hours when needed</li></ul>Note: This role follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation of being on-site in the New York metro area four days per week (subject to change).
