We are seeking a talented individual to join our Wealth investment team at Mercer. This role will be located in Washington DC, and it is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week at the client’s office.
As an Investment Consultant, you will be working on-site at a client’s office and will be responsible for supporting the ongoing provision of investment advice for a large client. In this role, you will oversee government insurance projects for all pension plans. This includes analyzing different investment markets, managers investment styles, and portfolio characteristics to evaluate their impact on investment performance. You will interface with client contacts regularly, notifying them of critical issues in an accurate and timely manner, while also assisting in the management of all aspects of consulting relationships for assigned clients. Additionally, you will manage multiple projects, keeping the team informed of their status and overseeing the information disseminated to clients.
We will count on you to:
- Examine and monitor developments at investment management firms and communicate to clients as appropriate
- Act as project manager – ensuring that high quality client deliverables are delivered in a timely manner, delegating work to senior consultants as appropriate, and providing guidance and ensuring peer review
- Produce accurate and detailed client reports through analysis of client-specific investment data including ongoing investment performance and manager monitoring
- Communicate with investment managers and custodians to gather and/or clarify client-specific data for reporting or any other client related matters
- Play a key role in investment manager searches, investment structure reviews, asset allocation studies, and other investment-related activities including market research presentations, ongoing manager due diligence, ad-hoc client projects/requests, etc.
- Attend and participate in weekly/regular client meetings
- Analyze and edit investment policy statements
- Conduct strategic portfolio structure and asset allocation analysis
What you need to have:
- A bachelors degree from an accredited college/institution with demonstrated work in business/investment-related courses
- 2-5 years of investment-related experience
- Strong analytical, project management and communication skills
- Self-motivation, with ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment
- Ability to multitask, manage multiple priorities and work in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment
- Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions
- Eagerness to learn and keep up to date with the investment industry and market conditions
- Adaptability and decisiveness
- Good technical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

- Completion of, or progression towards CIPM, CFA, or CAIA designation
