Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company (Versant) comprised of most of NBCUniversals cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

You will be responsible for support of Versant Transmission and Acquisition operations.  You’ll be managing signal flows and communication for daily coverage involving the assignment desk, bureaus, remotes and our Versant partners and affiliates in a rapid news environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Signal routing, quality control, and monitoring of all incoming and outgoing feeds/streams associated with Versant.
  • Communicate with live control rooms and remote sites.
  • Coordinate daily coverage with Versant Assignment Desk.
  • Provide direction to field crews and remote studios using a multitude of technologies such as LiveU bonded cellular, terrestrial vendors, satellite, and IP solutions to optimize signal quality.
  • Meet aggregating deadlines in a quick turnaround, evolving situation.
  • Support all Versant partners as needed.
  • With attention to detail and focus, troubleshoot quality control issues.
  • Booking and scheduling of remote facilities and Transmission when needed.
  • Work with Versant Engineering and other Incident Management teams to resolve equipment malfunctions and outages.

Qualifications

What You Must Have:

  • A minimum of 1 year of proven experience in live-to-air television operations TOC/NOC environment, with responsibility for audio/video/data quality and continuity.
  • Hands-on experience with basic operation and configuration of Transmission facility hardware such as LiveU, satellite receivers, antennas, IP/ASI encoders and decoders, and video plant router control panels.
  • Must be flexible with assigned shift for relief and breaking news coverage, will be assigned to rotational weekends for on-call coverage, and must be willing to work overtime.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of meeting strict deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail with diagnostics.

This position is required to be performed full-time from a Versant designated worksite.
