To manage this future, there must be a system that lets a single human manage 100x more work, done by both AI and people. That’s what we’re building at Motion.
We spent the past 5 years building the best automated project management software—an AI project manager that eliminates reactive project management—Motion predicts what will get done early or late, automatically coordinates the right person to do the highest impact task at the right time, and ensures no steps are missed.
The real moat in AI agents is context: whoever has the most data to let the system think and work exactly like their users will win. Motion already has a lead: tasks, projects, docs, meetings, calendars, and communication all live in one place, making us best equipped to swap out human work for AI technology improves. Integrating all these systems seamlessly is incredibly hard, but were uniquely capable of doing this because we are one of the most operationally excellent companies in the world.
With backing from YC and Sam Altman, a $500M+ valuation, and hundreds of thousands of users, we’re well positioned to lead. Now we’re building agents that work with extreme accuracy and unlock an order-of-magnitude boost in productivity.

Compensation: $150k-$225k base salary, plus equity compensation

About the Hiring Manager
Hi, I’m Luis, Head of Product at Motion. My passion for design, user experience, and human-computer interaction has been the driving force in my career. I started my journey as a designer over 15 years ago while studying Computer Engineering and Computer Science at Boston University. I then went on to join Microsoft as a software engineer before transitioning into product management. I worked on advertising, stores, and was part of the founding team for Microsoft Teams. Later, I led Skype’s product management team before joining Motion, where I’m tackling the problem I’m most deeply passionate about: time.
I believe life is short, and if we can help every team be just a bit more productive, they can, in turn, leave their unique marks on the world.
My philosophy is simple: let people and companies focus on what they do best and let technology handle the rest.

Your role as designer at Motion is crucial. You’ll own a large portion of the product and it’s design direction. I’ll share everything I know, with the expectation that within 3-6 months, your ideas and expertise will help us advance our mission.

About The Role
I’m hiring a Product Designer to craft impactful, intuitive, and delightful user experiences for our customers. You’ll own the whole design process—from learning about users and sketching ideas to crafting polished prototypes that are ready to ship. A lot of tools out there are clunky and frustrating, and we’re on a mission to change that by building simple, elegant interfaces that make teams more productive without all the headaches.
In this role, speed of execution and attention to detail are critical. We iterate a lot—usually 7+ times before we even loop in engineering and 10+ times before we launch anything. We course-correct quickly based on real customer feedback and how people actually use the product. It’s not about designing in a vacuum; it’s about making sure what we build really works for our users.
We work hard to ensure Motion’s team is one of the highest talent-density teams in the world. We have accomplished in weeks or months what it would take larger teams years to do. You will be successful in this role if:
You know your way around Figma and can crank out everything from quick wireframes to polished prototypes. You’re comfortable working fast, keeping files organized, and using components and design systems to keep things clean and consistent
You are ambitious and always looking for ways to improve. For most employees, this role will give you the most responsibilities you’ve ever had, while holding you to higher standards than other companies you’ve worked at. Don’t rest on your past achievements — expect to work your hardest and do the best work of your career at Motion. You will receive lots of coaching and feedback that you should seek to grow from
You can take ownership of projects and lead them to completion while dealing with ambiguity and finding the right balance between speed and quality. You don’t need every detail and edge case spelled out for you because you can figure out the goals of the project and fill in the blanks. You are comfortable with the fact that working in a startup means working without abundant resources. You can adopt the mindset that if you don’t do the work, it’s not going to get done
You are a fast learner and can quickly familiarize yourself with a complex product. You aren’t afraid to tackle any challenge or learn a new unfamiliar technology
You have a strong understanding of how you can create the most impact, and don’t get lost in the weeds in details that don’t matter. You’re excited to work on whatever solves the biggest customer problems, not just the flashiest designs
You can collaborate effectively with other talented employees and work well in an environment where the best ideas win. You should expect your ideas to get challenged and to learn a lot from your coworkers and leaders
