Parametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on whats important to them and their clients. This role is part of Parametrics hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The Equity SMA Operations team at Parametric is comprised of functional teams focusing on trade settlements, corporate actions, portfolio reconciliation, data operations, and other tasks that support Parametrics separately managed portfolios. The team is globally distributed, with staff located in Seattle, Minneapolis, Boston, Alpharetta, Singapore, and Mumbai. Associates work closely with portfolio managers, traders, product, sales and distribution, and other teams to ensure that client portfolios are managed in accordance to best practices and existing service level agreements.

ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, the incumbent will be tasked with overseeing, coordinating, and guiding the daily operations of a reconciliation team, typically consisting of 4-7 staff members. The position calls for a hands-on supervisor with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, deliver excellent customer service, and motivate the team.
The individual in this position must demonstrate a comfort level with consistently implementing best practices in their work. The role involves handling substantial data, requiring a thorough review of holdings and cash reconciliation across accounts that may involve 70 or more different currencies. The overarching objective is to ensure the accurate completion of processes and the timely resolution of discrepancies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates robust leadership and supervisory skills coupled with an extensive understanding of client portfolio accounting/reconciliation and other back-office operational processes.
  • Exhibits a comprehension of end-to-end processes within the reconciliation team, with the ability to promptly address inquiries and perform daily tasks as needed to support the team.
  • Ensures the accurate and timely completion of control reporting and audits.
  • Conducts a daily review of accounts to guarantee precise and comprehensive reconciliation for holdings and cash positions.
  • Acts as the primary escalation contact for all reconciliation breaks to mitigate potential risks, with a discerning ability to escalate issues to the appropriate managerial level.
  • Maintains an excellent grasp of finance and accounting principles, practices, and controls.
  • Ensures day-to-day staffing adequacy in the department, providing training and cross-training to employees as necessary.
  • Responsible for implementing processes to support firm-wide initiatives.
  • Proficient in working with large datasets in MS Excel, demonstrating expertise in managing and organizing datasets comprising 100,000+ rows of data.
  • Reviews and proposes new methods and procedures to enhance daily operations in the department for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensures accurate and timely responses to emails and inquiries.
  • Undertakes diverse developmental functions, including interviewing, conducting performance appraisals, developing planning, and addressing corrective action/termination.
  • Identifies and manages challenge areas, executing improvement plans promptly.
  • Resolves issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize initiatives and distribute workloads effectively during periods of peak activity.
  • Thrives in managing multiple projects, deadlines, client inquiries, etc., within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Delegates or allocates workloads appropriately across the team.
  • Ensures that written procedures are kept up-to-date for all team processes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s (4 year) degree with a major in finance or accounting preferred.
  • 5+ years previous work experience in the financial services industry.
  • 2+ years of management or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, self-initiative, and the ability to analyze information to support the team.
  • Effective planning, prioritization, and deadline management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Advent APX, SQL, and Tableau is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills essential for effective interaction with internal and external staff and management at all levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and adept handling of substantial email correspondence.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous conditions and navigate successfully through uncertainties.
  • Proven track record as a successful leader.

Salary range for the position: $70,000 - 150,000/Yr. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business units incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
