Someone who enjoys researching and implementing state of the art NLP systems and finding ways to make them excel at unique use cases within aviation.  Someone ready to work at the intersection of research and product development and has a strong track record for delivering and maintaining high quality software.</div><h3>Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li>Design and implement NLU and NLG systems for aviation applications such as air traffic control communication.</li><li>Develop and optimize algorithms and models to improve current NLU and NLG systems.</li><li>Research and stay up to date with the latest advancements in NLP technology.</li><li>Work with the larger NLP team to integrate NLU/NLG systems with the rest of the pipeline.</li><li>Work with project teams to understand requirements and conops for the systems under development.</li><li>Generally contribute to the natural language processing team by following our software and model development process and writing software to integrate work into the larger system.</li><li>Learning the aviation domain in which the NLP systems will function.</li></ul><h3>Requirements:</h3><ul><li>BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Natural Language Processing, or a related subject. MS or PhD. preferred. </li><li>5+  years experience in designing and developing NLU or NLG systems for research or commercial products.</li><li>Experience scaling systems to make them high performing given larger scope</li><li>Fluency in python and either PyTorch or Tensorflow. Experience with Huggingface.</li><li>Experience with linux, open source development tools, software development process and version control tools such as git and weights and biases.</li><li>Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.</li></ul><h3>Nice to Haves:</h3><ul><li>Experience deploying models in production environments.</li><li>Knowledge in the aviation space.</li></ul><div>Merlin Labs offers an innovative, entrepreneurial, and team-focused startup environment.
