Global Technical Sourcing (GTS) bridges Global Supply Management (GSM) with Technology and New Product Development (NPD) Project Teams, aligning Medtronic Product and Supplier Technology Roadmaps. GTS accelerates innovation through suppliers to create a sustainable competitive advantage. As part of the GSM Project Management function, the Technical Sourcing Program Manager will lead the reduction of overall supply risk and drive the adoption of capable technologies and sources in New Product Development, ensuring predictable supply and competitiveness through full product launch. Technical Sourcing is responsible for the timely execution of all project deliverables in the Product Development Process (PDP). As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.As the Technical Sourcing Program Manager, you will be the primary liaison between the product development team and suppliers, ensuring supplier capabilities align with project needs to meet NPD milestones and timelines.You will:<ul><li>Partner with cross-functional team members and suppliers to identify and plan GTS deliverables needed to support all phases of the NPD program through commercial launch.</li><li>Lead Phase Gate and Transfer to Operations Reviews with stakeholders for each NPD phase.</li><li>Lead the identification, evaluation, and selection of suppliers aligned to program objectives and sourcing strategies.</li><li>Optimize supply chain flow to drive cost savings and cycle time efficiency.</li><li>Ensure material costs and program budgets align with targets through supplier negotiations while influencing design and manufacturing strategies.</li><li>Oversee supplier DRM activities and drive early engagement with suppliers on NUDs (New, Unique, Difficult components).</li><li>Partner with Category Management and Legal to identify and create applicable legal agreements with suppliers.</li><li>Identify and own mitigation plans to burn down supplier and supply-related BOM risks.</li><li>Act as the liaison between suppliers and the project team to drive oversight and resolve supplier-caused issues.</li><li>Manage product orders to ensure accurate quantities and configurations arrive on time for all program development stages.</li><li>Manage inventories in alignment with NPD inventory policies, program build needs, and commercial launch plans.</li><li>Partner with Supplier Quality Engineering to drive PPAP qualification activities at the supplier.</li><li>Develop and oversee supplier capacity plans to ensure product availability after commercial launch.</li><li>Identify and capture future supplier cost-down opportunities.</li><li>Partner with Category Management to ensure supplier pricing agreements are in place.</li><li>Oversee and support inventory and ERP production release activities.</li><li>Provide hyper-care support after commercial launch.</li></ul>Must-Have:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical and/or sourcing experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant technical and/or sourcing experience.</li></ul>Nice to Have:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.</li><li>Experience working with suppliers across a broad range of manufacturing technologies, with a preferred focus on software and electronic component/assembly suppliers, OEMs, and contract manufacturers.</li><li>Proven communication, leadership, and exceptional interpersonal and team-building skills, fostering effective collaboration within global teams.</li><li>Extensive experience in project management, including developing and launching medical devices; PMI-certified professional.</li><li>Proficient in supplier management, negotiation, and overall supply chain processes.</li><li>Skilled in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies with expertise in Design for Reliability and Manufacturability.</li><li>Strong business understanding and the ability to influence objectives in a matrix organization.</li><li>Broad experience in manufacturing processes and material/component replacement initiatives.</li><li>Knowledgeable in design, production, and supplier-related efforts for medical device development.</li><li>Willingness to travel: 10-25%</li></ul>Physical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
