A Day in the Life
As the Strategic Pricing Director, you will be a key member of the Global Pricing and Contracting extended leadership team, responsible for leading a team of pricing professionals focused on U.S. and global pricing strategy and execution. This role plays a critical part in partnering with global Operating Units, U.S. Enterprise Accounts, and regional pricing teams to drive pricing decisions that directly impact margin expansion, revenue growth, and financial performance.You will lead the development and execution of pricing and contracting strategies across the Cardiovascular portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and commercial priorities. In addition to strategic leadership, you will be responsible for influencing pricing strategy on critical new product launches, overseeing daily pricing operations, enabling functional transformation through better processes, tools, and data-driven insights. Your leadership will be pivotal in delivering consistent, measurable pricing results.
This leader will have direct accountability for results to the Region Deployment leaders, Global Operating Unit leadership, Portfolio CFOs, and U.S. Market Enterprise Account leadership team.
A Day in the Life:
People Management
- Set clear goals and expectations to guide team performance and deliver against financial and strategic objectives.
- Attract and develop top pricing strategy talent—both internally and externally—to build a strong, future-ready pipeline across all levels of the pricing and contracting organization.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment focused on engagement, accountability, and professional development.
Pricing Strategy Setting and Driving Growth
- Achieve and exceed established price and margin targets, including Price & Mix Effect (PME), price increase programs, and margin improvement initiatives.
- Lead the creation of pricing strategy for key new product launches and serve as a liaison between the global pricing teams and OU leadership.
- Lead a large team in partnering with the Operating Unit and commercial teams on developing pricing strategies and programs to drive profitable growth and margin improvement.
- Engage key business partners to understand commercial priorities. Develop and lead strategies to execute pricing & contracting strategies that protect and grow revenue and margin.
Policy & Governance
- Evolve US and global governance processes that are aligned with Operating Unit strategies.
- Oversee pricing & contracting policy & compliance processes, including delegation of authority, deal management, and proper execution and retention of customer contracts and related addendums.
- Ensure adherence to pricing strategy by managing pricing floors and approval matrices in the US and globally
- Partner with region, operating units, and functional teams to ensure adherence to pricing, contracting, and revenue management policies via managing pricing floors and approval levels both in the US region and globally.
Innovation & Process Improvement
- Drive innovation and process improvement in partnership with the Global Commercial Office to deliver improved effectiveness and resource efficiency.
- Lead effort to evolve and harmonize price reporting and analytics across all OUs and regions.
Program Management
- Establish and manage functional metrics to evaluate pricing and contracting decisions and expected outcomes; create and implement action plans to drive improvement with key team members and business partners
- Lead team in supporting ASP forecasts on a quarterly basis in support of IBP process. Provide ASP support during the appropriate IBP meetings (RDR, PMR)
- Provide data driven insights for program performance at contract level based on customer profiles
- Collaborate on initiatives across organizations and regions to drive efficiency in processes, tools, and systems
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead multiple job areas, and detailed functional and operational expertise.
Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience.
