A Day in the Life

The Director of FP&A for the Global Commercial Office (GCO) serves as the strategic financial leader, responsible for providing financial insights and decision support for global commercial capabilities. This role will work directly with the VP Finance, Global Commercial Office and senior functional leaders to drive financial planning, optimize resource allocation, support long-range strategic planning, and ensure alignment with enterprise financial goals. The role will lead and manage the GCP FP&A resources and will be a member of the GCO Finance leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership: Lead the development and execution of annual operating plan (AOP), strategic plan, and rolling forecasts for the Global Commercial Office.
  • Business Partnering: Serve as a trusted advisor to GCO leadership, translating complex financial data into actional insights that support strategic decision making.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and report on key performance indicators, identify business risks and opportunities, and drive initiatives to improve revenue growth, profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Consolidated Reporting: Provide timely and accurate financial reporting, commentary, and analysis across GCO functions, aligning global reporting processes to deliver consistent performance updates to executive leadership.
  • Investment Planning: Evaluate GCO initiatives and investments, including business cases for major projects and transformation efforts. Ensure clear financial accountability and ROI tracking.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 10+ years of progressive financial experience with at least 5 years in FP&A leadership roles
  • Proven ability to manage complex financial planning processes, drive insights from data, and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen, analytics skills, financial modeling expertise, and attention to detail
  • Proven track record in process improvement
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross functional teams and drive change in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA and/or CPA  
  • Experience supporting commercial or go to market functions in a global, matrixed organization
  • Experience in healthcare, medical device, or life sciences industry
  • Familiarity with tools such as Hyperion, SAP, Tableau or Power BI
  • Strong understanding of global marketings and commercial operating models

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$169,600.00 - $254,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
