The Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an intern opportunity to work as a DevSecOps Engineer in our Huntsville, AL office.  This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects, gain hands-on experience with industry leading tools and contribute to the modernization of software practices.  You will also receive mentorship from experienced professionals and build skills that are highly sought after in the tech industry.  This position directly supports a variety of Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS).  The selected individual will be responsible for building and maintaining a secure DevSecOps environment to enable software development activities for agile development teams.  Our team is solving the world’s toughest challenges to support customers with “no fail” missions.  Become part of a team where you are directly responsible for developing capabilities that support our deployed warfighters and aiding in the defense of our nation!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to automate software development, testing, and deployment process.
  • Develop and secure containerized applications using tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Implement security measures within the software development lifecycle, including vulnerability scanning, static code analysis, and compliance checks.
  • Use monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and generate reports on pipeline performance and security findings.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for pipelines, tools, and processes.
  • Collaborate with a local and remote software team that includes product owner, technical leadership, and other engineers.
  • Responsible for analyzing and resolving highly complex software issues related to multiple aspects and components of the system.
  • Partner with Software Engineers and System Engineers in resolving complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple facets of the system.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or related field from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, C# or C++
  • Fundamental background in software design patterns
  • Exposure to version control systems like Git
  • Knowledge of Agile and DevSecOps concepts and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently while possessing the communication skills to work effectively with software development teams and customers. 
  • Must be able to develop technical solutions that require collaboration with experts, deep analyses, and understanding of impact on product/solution.
  • Must have a strong sense of ownership and drive in digging into complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with containerization tools (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
  • Familiar with security tools like Checkmarx, SonarQube, OWASP, etc.
  • Understanding of AWS cloud platforms
  • Coursework or certification in DevSecOps, cybersecurity, or cloud computing
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools such as GitLab, Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Passion for learning and applying DevSecOps principles to real-word challenges

Pay Range:

Pay Range $46,800.00 - $84,600.00
