The Talent Area at Lattice The Talent area encompasses Lattice’s core people and performance management products. This includes Performance Reviews, Feedback, Goals, 1:1s, Career Development, and related capabilities. Together, these products form the foundation of how companies support, grow, and retain their people. As a Staff Engineer in this area, you’ll be working across a suite of interconnected products that are central to Lattice’s mission of helping companies build high-performing, engaged teams. The Talent area presents unique challenges and opportunities: building flexible yet opinionated systems that serve both managers and employees, designing experiences that scale from startups to enterprises, and ensuring consistency and integration across the broader Lattice product suite. This role requires strong product intuition, systems thinking, and the ability to balance immediate customer needs with long-term platform evolution. <h2>What You Will Do</h2> <ul> <li>Develop software to help companies build cultures in which their employees thrive.</li> <li>Partner with other engineers to build and own products across a modern tech stack. Our current stack includes React, Relay Modern, GraphQL, Node, and PostgreSQL. We rely on AWS to host our infrastructure.</li> <li>Lead the planning and execution of complex, multi-team projects with a high degree of ambiguity.</li> <li>Provide technical standards, conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship of other engineers.</li> <li>Influence and drive alignment in large-scale product initiatives, directly shaping the Talent product suite and business outcomes.</li> <li>Partner with Product Managers to understand customer pain points and business objectives, using these insights to architect solutions that deliver measurable value to our customers.</li> </ul> <h2>What You Will Bring to the Table</h2> <ul> <li>7+ years of professional experience writing and maintaining production-level applications.</li> <li>Experience working with a modern programming language like JavaScript, Ruby, Python, etc.</li> <li>Strong database and data modeling skills, with the ability to design efficient schemas, optimize queries, and mentor others on best practices.</li> <li>A deep understanding of building and scaling applications actively serving customers in production.</li> <li>Clear, concise communication when explaining technical tradeoffs and architectural decisions.</li> <li>A collaborative approach to working with designers and product managers to develop optimal solutions.</li> <li>Passion for mentoring and supporting other software engineers in their growth.</li> <li>Proven experience leading planning and execution for larger, multi-product or multi-team projects.</li> <li>Strong product intuition and systems thinking, with the ability to design solutions that work cohesively across a suite of interconnected products.</li> <li>A track record of making engineering teams more effective through pragmatic tools, patterns, and technical leadership.</li> </ul>   The estimated annual cash salary for this role is CAD $146,250 - CAD $195,000. This position is also eligible for incentive stock options, subject to the terms of Lattice’s applicable plans.
