The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in AI/ML and modern software engineering with strong leadership and strategic thinking—helping shape how Labcorp applies intelligent technologies to improve health outcomes.Reports to: SVP, Artificial Intelligence Solutions  People Management: YesKey ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership &amp; Strategy<ul><li>Lead the AI/ML Engineering organization, including data, ML, platform, and DevOps teams responsible for delivering reliable, scalable, and secure applications.</li><li>Define and execute the long-term technical vision and architecture for Labcorp’s AI platforms and development frameworks.</li><li>Translate product roadmaps into scalable, cloud-native applications and platforms for internal and external users.</li></ul>Technical Innovation &amp; Execution<ul><li>Oversee rapid prototyping and enterprise deployment of AI-driven tools and emerging technologies.</li><li>Provide technical direction on the integration of AI/ML models (classical and neural) with modern data systems such as Snowflake, Postgres, and ElasticSearch.</li><li>Occasionally take a hands-on role in shaping or reviewing key technical implementations.</li></ul>Team Leadership &amp; Talent Development<ul><li>Build, mentor, and retain a diverse, high-performing engineering team with expertise in AI/ML, data, and platform development.</li><li>Foster a culture centered on innovation, learning, collaboration, and accountability.</li><li>Empower teams to experiment, deliver, and grow through open communication and trust.</li></ul>Cross-Functional &amp; Strategic Collaboration<ul><li>Work closely with product, design, data science, clinical, and compliance teams to ensure AI/ML solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant.</li><li>Act as the senior technical advisor to executives and stakeholders—translating engineering progress into clear, business-focused outcomes.</li></ul>Operational Management &amp; Governance<ul><li>Oversee budgets, vendor partnerships, and delivery of engineering initiatives across the AI portfolio.</li><li>Continuously improve processes and efficiency through agile and DevOps best practices.</li><li>Ensure engineering operations align with global regulatory, security, and ethical AI standards.</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).</li><li>12+ years of experience in AI/ML software engineering, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Bioinformatics.</li><li>Experience with high-performance computing and advanced computing environments.</li><li>Publications or recognized contributions to AI in healthcare, life sciences, or scientific computing.</li></ul>Skills &amp; Competencies<ul><li>Proven success leading teams that have built and deployed enterprise-scale AI/ML systems.</li><li>Deep knowledge of ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), programming languages (Python, JavaScript/Node.js), and DevOps pipelines.</li><li>Expertise in distributed data platforms, APIs, and modern software delivery methods.</li><li>Experience implementing LLMs and multi-modal AI solutions in production.</li><li>Strong background in regulated industries such as healthcare or clinical trials.</li><li>Excellent communication, collaboration, and executive influencing skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale engineering portfolios with strategic and operational complexity.</li></ul>Working ConditionsHybrid and flexible work options are available, with preference for candidates located near Labcorp’s engineering, innovation, or research hubs.Application Window: 10/31/2025Pay Range: $200-300kAll job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers.
