Your Responsibilities

 

As a Software Design Engineer – Power Electronics for John Deere in Cary, NC, you will:

 

  • Create and maintain complex technical documentation to a high standard;
  • Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within the software engineering discipline;
  • Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them;
  • Work collaboratively with other professional teams and over organizational boundaries to ensure stakeholders and customers experience cohesive and seamless support of the products delivered;
  • Collaborate with team members in an Agile Development framework;
  • Independently design and implement software engineering solutions in support of product and vehicle needs;
  • Carry out software and hardware inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and make recommendations to ensure conformance with specifications and best design practices;
  • Develop software delivery solutions to deliver the developed software solutions to the production component and vehicle manufacturing systems.
  • 20% international and domestic travel required. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite. Up to 20% remote work (1 day per week) permitted.

 

What Skills You Need

 

  • 2 years of experience in deep understanding of and experience developing software on OpenRTOS and its components including Schedulers, Task Managers, Interrupt Handlers and MMUs
  • 1 year of experience developing SPI, I2C and other device drivers as well as sensor interface software for sensors including temperature and current in both bare-metal and RTOS platforms using C programming language
  • 2 years of experience developing EEPROM, CAN and other device drivers as well as sensor interface software for sensors in RTOS platforms using C programming language
  • 2 years of experience developing automated tests, build tools, and package updating tools using Python, JavaScript and batch scripts. Experience using JavaScript to develop Payload Programming (software delivery) software that configures the payload, finds, filters, and programs multiple controllers over J1939 CAN Network
  • 2 years of in-field experience testing and tuning software on residential and commercial mowing equipment, and taking CAN Logs using CanSniff, CANalyzer, and CANape.  Then analyzing the logs offline
  • 2 years of experience in design and develop Model Based Control Software with strict adherence to MAB Guidelines.  Develop component (unit) and composition (system) level Model-In-Loop tests for MBSD software using tools like JDModelTester & SimulinkTest. Develop Software-In-Loop tests for simulated controller software in Win32 environment using CPUTest and AllSim. Perform bench testing using oscilloscope, multimeter, and signal generator
  • 2 years of experience configuring Continuous Integration and automation servers like Jenkins. Create pipelines to build code and run automated tests. Use Git, NPM, and Artifactory for version control, package management and artifact management

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 2 years related experience.
