Job Summary:
The Sr. Trade Analyst is a senior position within our client organization Merck Global Clinical Supply Compliance Operations responsible for ensuring imports/exports are declared and shipped in compliance with local Customs and other government agency regulations, Merck Global Trade Compliance (GTC) standards, and post-entry auditing experience.

This will include implementing related processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and laws. Position will work with Global Trade Compliance (GTC), site shipping personnel, and Clinical and Research stakeholders across all global Merck locations. Position will also interact with Logistics, Transportation, Clinical Country Operations overseas, and outside vendors/shippers. Key challenges will include influencing all constituents and stakeholders to follow trade policy and procedures and solving shipment-specific issues when they arise. This will be a remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with government agencies and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor junior analysts and provide strategic guidance.
  • Will execute Merck’s (MRL) trade second person review (2PR) program, being the escalation for 2PR issues and inquiries.
  • Collaboration with the Trade Audit team as appropriate. Support all internal import and export audits as needed.
  • Experience in post entry auditing.
  • Supporting the US Import Entry work center, with US Import entry preparations and filings as required.
  • Supporting administration of the multiple email boxes owned by US Trade Operations as required.
  • Engages with MRL stakeholders through outreach activities.
  • Identifies opportunities for trade compliance process improvements within GCS and the rest of MRL.
  • Contributes to the maintenance and implementation of trade compliance Standard Business Procedures, tools, systems, and training to ensure compliance and the appropriate incorporation of processes into GCS and the rest of MRL operations.
  • Partners with area SMEs inside and outside of GCS on cross-functional initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Provides US and global support to deploy Merck’s Compliance strategic goals and objectives closely aligned with business objectives.
  • Works in our Global Trade Management systems, including GTS in SAP, and other systems to ensure trade attributes are stored and communicated to brokers and government agencies compliantly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred; candidates with relevant experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field; candidates without a degree should have 8+
  • Trade-related certificate or Customs Broker License preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of US Customs regulations and related experience.
  • Familiarity with other partner government agency trade regulations.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
  • Prior experience with global trade management systems like SAP GTS or other similar databases is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Solid project management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to sustain an elevated level of performance while quickly processing high volumes of work.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $77,700.00 - $194,200.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
