Driven by our core values, we push boundaries, build with speed and intensity, and consistently deliver incredible value to our customers.</p></div><h2>Whats the opportunity? </h2> <p>Intercom’s Legal team is seeking a dedicated Senior Employment Counsel to support our employment and H.R. matters, as well as help support other corporate compliance initiatives.  You will collaborate and partner with our People team, including HR Ops, Recruiting, HRBPs, Compensation and Benefits, Stock Administration, Privacy and other teams throughout the organization on employment, compliance, litigation and investigation matters.  The position is based in San Francisco, California or Chicago, Illinois.</p> <h2>What will I be doing? </h2> <ul> <li>Provide global counseling and subject matter expertise on a broad range of labor and employment issues across multiple jurisdictions (primarily U.S., U.K., Ireland and Australia), including employee policies, performance management, terminations, immigration, wage and hour compliance, employee relations, conflicts of interests and ethics, executive compensation and equity matters</li> <li>Advise on compensation-related matters, including compensation design proposals, commission plans, compliance with pay transparency laws, wage and hour issues, and leveling and job architecture matters</li> <li>Work closely with the Stock Administration, Compensation and Benefits teams to support equity, compensation and benefits programs</li> <li>Manage the resolution of internal ethics and employee relations investigations, administrative claims and litigation matters</li> <li>Stay current on changes to employment laws and regulations, conduct research and provide guidance on potential impacts to the organization</li> <li>Draft, review and help negotiate employment offer letters and contracts, templates, separation agreements, bonus and commission plans and other legal documents related to employment</li> <li>Develop, update and maintain employment policies, handbooks, guidelines, programs and processes that align with legal requirements and best practices, in collaboration with other business stakeholders</li> <li>Develop and deliver training to employees, managers and HR teams on ethics, compliance, investigations and best practices</li> <li>Provide advice and guidance on privacy and data protection involving employees and job applicants</li> <li>Assess legal risks and advise strategic and programmatic initiatives that impact on the global workforce to enable business agility</li> </ul> <h2>What skills do I need? </h2> <ul> <li>10+ years relevant experience as an attorney with a law firm and in-house legal department </li> <li>Extensive experience in employment law, including litigation management</li> <li>Strong knowledge and understanding of U.S., Ireland, UK and Australia employment laws and regulations</li> <li>Experience in developing and implementing employment policies, programs, compliance initiatives and training</li> <li>An ability to multi-task which includes handling a variety of legal issues simultaneously  and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment </li> <li>Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, a sense of passion to support Intercom’s corporate initiatives and the versatility and confidence to take on challenges that are presented to you </li> <li>High level of initiative, flexibility, and adaptability to meet a variety of challenges and priorities</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills  and a team-first approach</li> <li>Positive attitude, good humor, high empathy, and composure in challenging situations</li> <li>J.D. degree from an accredited law school and California or Illinois state bar licensed attorney (or ability to be registered as in-house counsel if licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction)</li> </ul> <h2>Benefits </h2> <p><span>We are a well-treated bunch, with awesome benefits! Actual base pay will depend on a variety of factors such as education, skills, experience, location, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All regular employees may also be eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).  </p><div><p><strong>Policies </strong></p> <p>Intercom has a hybrid working policy.
