Position OverviewThe Director of Evidence Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategic vision for a global integrated evidence plan (IEP) and an external research program. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Medical Affairs - Evidence Generation, Strategy, and Communications, the incumbent will lead the development and execution of the global IEP collaborating with internal stakeholders and key opinion leaders.  The Director of Evidence Strategy will lead a cross-functional team overseeing the external research program strategy, intake and review of external research proposals, contracting, and milestone tracking as well as utilization of the evidence generated.  A deep understanding of the diabetes disease state, the current and future treatment landscape, and clinical research is essential for success in this role.Responsibilities <ul><li>Global Integrated Evidence Plan Management:<ul><li>Develop and implement the IEP, aligning with the organizations strategic priorities.</li><li>Lead the Franchise teams and other internal stakeholders to identify evidence needs and opportunities.</li><li>Develop the IEP strategy for evaluation and prioritization by the IEP Hub and the Steering Committee.</li><li>Ensure the integration of evidence generation activities across different regions and therapeutic areas.</li><li>Monitor and report on the progress of the IEP, adjusting as necessary to meet objectives.</li><li>Work closely with clinical, regulatory, privacy, legal, franchise medical affairs, and commercial teams to ensure evidence strategies support product development and commercialization.</li></ul></li><li>External Research Program Oversight:<ul><li>Lead and manage the external research program, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.</li><li>Formulate a team to evaluate and approve research proposals, ensuring scientific rigor and compliance with ethical, privacy and regulatory standards.</li><li>Review contract language and milestones working with IIR Manager to determine device needs and contract requirements.</li><li>Foster relationships with external investigators and research institutions.</li><li>Monitor ongoing external research studies, providing guidance and support to ensure successful completion.</li><li>Work with Senior Director and a cross-functional team on development of annual external research budget and tracking of budget expenditure.</li></ul></li></ul>Key Decision Rights<ul><li>Integrated Evidence Plan: Oversee a cross-functional team to present the IEP to the Steering Committee</li><li>External Research Proposals: Leading the review and approval of investigator-initiated research proposals with cross-functional input factoring in the external research strategy, resources needed, KOL relationship, and budget.</li><li>Strategic Direction: Responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the external research program</li><li>Stakeholder Engagement: Decision-making power in engaging and collaborating with external investigators</li></ul>Required Leadership/Interpersonal Skills &amp; Behaviors<ul><li>Visionary Leadership: Ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving strategic goals.</li><li>Empathy: Demonstrates understanding and consideration for the perspectives and needs of team members and stakeholders.</li><li>Adaptability: Flexible and able to navigate changing priorities and environments effectively.</li><li>Integrity: Maintains high ethical standards and fosters a culture of compliance, trust and transparency.</li><li>Conflict Resolution: Skilled in managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.</li><li>Influence: Ability to persuade and build consensus among diverse groups.</li><li>Accountability: Takes ownership of responsibilities and ensures team members are accountable for their roles.</li></ul>Required Skills and Competencies<ul><li>Scientific Expertise: Advanced understanding of evidence generation, clinical research methodologies, and regulatory requirements specific to medical device and diabetes research.</li><li>Diabetes Expertise: Strong understanding of disease state and scientific landscape</li><li>Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with organizational goals.</li><li>Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.</li><li>Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively. Strong track record in building relationships across academic researchers and industry preferred,</li><li>Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and address challenges proactively, ensuring successful outcomes for research initiatives.</li></ul>Education and Experience<ul><li>A minimum of 15 years of experience in research with 5 or more years of experience in management</li><li>Post-graduate degree (PhD or equivalent) in a health-related field</li><li>Diabetes technology related experience strongly preferred</li></ul>Additional Information<ul><li>The position is hybrid from our Acton, MA or San Diego, CA office.</li><li>Travel is estimated at 10% but will be dependent on business needs.</li></ul>Additional Information:The US base salary range for this full-time position is $191,925.00 - $287,887.50. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
