Youll work across the stack from elegant, accessible UIs to resilient serverless backends, and youll help us scale safely across regions and time zones. This person should be located within Utah and able to travel on occasion to meet with other team members in person. </div><h3>What you will do:</h3><ul><li>Design, build, and own production features in <a href="http://Node.js">Node.js</a>, TypeScript, <a href="http://Next.js">Next.js</a> (App Router), and Tailwind CSS.</li><li>Develop serverless/edge APIs and jobs on Vercel and AWS (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, S3/CloudFront, EventBridge/Queues).</li><li>Model data and ship performant Postgres queries (migrations, indexing, connection mgmt, query optimization).</li><li>Architect multiregion deployments: traffic routing, latency budgets, failover/DR, config &amp; secrets, and rollout strategies.</li><li>Build for international audiences: i18n/l10n pipelines, time-zone correctness, and data residency considerations.</li><li>Instrument services with logs/metrics/traces (OpenTelemetry or similar) and drive incident ready observability.</li><li>Champion accessibility (WCAG aware UI), testing (unit/integration/e2e), CI/CD, and code reviews.</li><li>Mentor peers, collaborate with Product/Design, and contribute to technical direction.</li></ul><h3>What you will need to know/have</h3><ul><li>7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant time in TypeScript and <a href="http://Node.js">Node.js</a>.</li><li>Deep experience with <a href="http://Next.js">Next.js</a> (server components, server actions, caching) and Tailwind in production.</li><li>Proven use of Vercel and AWS for serverless and edge patterns (cold-start mitigation, concurrency, idempotency).</li><li>Strong Postgres chops (schema design, query tuning, migrations, understanding of transactions and isolation).</li><li>Real world experience operating multi-region/global apps (CDN/edge, geo routing, blue/green &amp; canary, DR).</li><li>Security mindset (authN/Z, OAuth/OIDC, secrets, OWASP), plus familiarity with FERPA/GDPR implications in edtech.</li><li>Excellent communication, product sense, and a bias for shipping.</li></ul><h3>It would be a bonus if you also had:</h3><ul><li>Experience with Canvas LTI/OAuth integrations.</li><li>Exposure to Drizzle/Prisma, tRPC, or GraphQL.</li><li>Prior work with edge runtimes (Vercel Edge, Cloudflare Workers) and background jobs/queues.</li><li>Experience with analytics/feature flags (e.g., LaunchDarkly) and cost/perf tuning at scale.</li></ul><h3>Get in on all the awesome at Instructure!</h3><ul><li>We offer competitive, meaningful benefits in every country where we operate.
