Partnering cross-functionally across departments, we position Instacart as a leader in adapting to and shaping the legal frameworks within our rapidly evolving industry.</em></p> <h3><strong>About the Job</strong></h3> <p><em>As part of the Future of Work Team, you will:</em></p> <ul> <li><em>Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Operations, Policy &amp; Government Affairs, Communications, Product, and Engineering) to shape outcomes in regulatory and legislative proceedings impacting Instacart’s business.</em></li> <li><em>Review, draft, evaluate, and advise on legislation relating to the gig economy, retailers, consumer product groups, consumers, and workers.</em></li> <li><em>Advise internal teams on regulatory laws to ensure compliance across Instacarts operations.</em></li> <li><em>Develop and implement procedures and product changes to meet legislative and regulatory requirements.</em></li> <li><em>Provide expert legal advice on an array of matters, interpreting state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations.</em></li> <li><em>Manage outside counsel, trade organizations, coalitions, and experts to evaluate and drive strategic litigation or regulatory responses as needed.</em></li> <li><em>Build and maintain relationships with industry groups and partners; represent Instacart in cross-industry collaborations.</em></li> <li><em>Develop subject matter expertise in emerging areas as novel challenges arise.</em></li> </ul> <h3><strong>About You</strong></h3> <p><em><span>Minimum Qualifications</span></em></p> <ul> <li><em>Juris Doctor (JD) degree.</em></li> <li><em>5+ years of experience practicing law.</em></li> <li><em>Proven ability to provide clear, concise legal advice on legislative matters and collaborate across functional teams to achieve results.</em></li> <li><em>Experience engaging with legislative bodies and government agencies.</em></li> <li><em>A track record of success in strategizing and implementing compliance frameworks.</em></li> <li><em>Previous involvement in drafting or refining significant legislation.</em></li> <li><em>Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with trade organizations and coalitions.</em></li> <li><em>Strong knowledge of legislative processes.</em></li> </ul> <p><em>Preferred Qualifications</em></p> <ul> <li><em>Experience in political law.</em></li> <li><em>Background in handling litigation strategy or regulatory challenges.</em></li> <li><em>Experience working in fast-paced, highly regulated environments like the gig economy or marketplace businesses.</em></li> </ul><div><div><div><p><span>Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work.
