What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a technically strong and detail-obsessed Senior Website Developer to help elevate Insider’s web platform. Reporting to the Website Development Director, you’ll take on key responsibilities across development, optimization, and component system design — working hand-in-hand with Design, SEO, and Regional Marketing to deliver a blazing-fast, modular, and scalable site experience.

You’ll play a pivotal role in building systems that speed up global launches, improve code consistency, and ensure that every page we ship is optimized for performance, UX, and growth.

You’ll succeed in this role if you:

Think in systems, not just pages — and love building scalable frontend frameworks
Are highly comfortable with modern WordPress development and PHP-based workflows
Can optimize for performance without compromising UX
Can guide junior developers and streamline frontend output for global consistency
Are familiar with CI/CD, staging, and structured deployment flows
Enjoy collaborating with design, marketing, and cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

Architecture & Development
Build and maintain advanced components using WordPress (Elementor, WPML, PHP, etc.)
Help evolve and document our internal design system and component framework
Write performant, clean, reusable code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
Support localization across multiple markets using WPML and dynamic content structures
Ensure code output meets SEO, accessibility, and responsive best practices
Assist in setting up and managing CI/CD, staging, and deployment flows in collaboration with the Director

Optimization & Performance
Own front-end performance, Core Web Vitals, and page speed across key templates
Contribute to structured optimization experiments (CRO, layout testing, UI enhancements)
Implement schema, metadata, and SEO fixes in collaboration with the marketing team
Support web analytics setup through clean markup and event structure

Mentorship & Workflow Enablement
Support junior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and structured feedback
Contribute to internal documentation and improve developer onboarding speed
Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to ensure handoffs are smooth and specs are clear
Work closely with the Website Development Director to define and evolve development standards

Requirements and Skills

5+ years of professional web development experience, including WordPress theme/plugin development
Strong frontend experience: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
Proficient in PHP and experienced working within WordPress architecture
Familiar with Elementor and/or other visual builders and how to extend/customize them
Experience with version control (Git), branching, and staging environments
Good understanding of technical SEO, accessibility, and frontend performance
Familiar with page speed tools (Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights) and how to apply insights
Bonus: experience managing junior developers or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment
