The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in designing and delivering robust and scalable software services, along with proven experience leading software teams in developing those services. Your vision will chart the course for innovation, setting the technical direction and architectural foundation of our software systems.<h3>Job Responsibilities</h3>The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time.<ul> <li>Manage, develop, build, and lead a team of software developers &amp; DevOps engineers. Mentor and guide direct reports, fostering their growth and enhancing the teams technical expertise</li> <li>Develop, communicate, and enforce software development standards and processes</li> <li>Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Infleqtion quantum computing software systems, their operational principles, their requirements, the broad technical stack, etc.; architect and design control system software; hands-on application of deep subject matter expertise in building software systems</li> <li>In collaboration with programmatic leadership and adjacent engineering disciplines, develop and execute a technical roadmap for software deliverables across the control stack to support given high-level quantum computing performance targets and system deliverables</li> <li>Communicate software feature roadmaps and resource needs between the control software team, adjacent stakeholders, and executive management </li> </ul><ul> <li>Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics or related field and a minimum of 8 years prior work experience</li> <li>Demonstrated success in a technical leadership role in a deep-tech startup environment</li> <li>Deep expertise in Python and at least one compiled language, with enthusiasm for learning and developing in Rust</li> <li>Command of systems engineering principles and their application to requirements-driven software engineering</li> <li>Extensive experience with Linux and modern containerization and virtualization technologies</li> <li>Comfortable working with hardware and embedded engineers to architect, design, and build high performance, real time control systems </li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively share information with technical and non-technical staff and external parties</li> <li>Eagerness to expand knowledge beyond core area of expertise</li> <li>Experience with industry standard Dev Ops workflows</li> <li>Experience with modern development methodologies such as agile and scrum</li> </ul><h3>Preferred Experience</h3><ul> <li>PhD in relevant technical area (computer science, physics, etc)</li> <li>Domain expertise in quantum information science; demonstrated success in a technical leadership role in the quantum field</li> <li>Experience managing software engineering teams</li> <li>Experience leading aspects of product development with highly complex dependencies in system and project plan</li> <li>Experience with Numpy, Scipy, and GPU acceleration libraries</li> <li>Experience optimizing Python packages using C or Rust extensions</li> <li>Familiarity with quantum error correction and its implied requirements for control software and hardware elements</li> <li>Experience with databases (relational and non-relational) including but not limited to timeseries data, SQL, and ETL processes</li> </ul>Location:Boulder, CO; Chicago, IL; or Madison, WIThis position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
