This position is responsible for preparing standard cost reports, determining manufacturing variances, checking bills of material for standard costs, assisting with new product costing, assisting with month-end close and reporting, and communicating with management any opportunities that may arise.Essential Functions<ul><li>Prepare monthly financial information utilizing the applicable support systems. Duties include preparing journal entries, entering inventory A/P accruals, reconciling the balance sheet and analyzing variances.</li><li>Assist with month-end closing including reconciliation of perpetual inventories to the general ledger.</li><li>Track daily work items assigned in D365.</li><li>Investigate and report on inventory adjustments.</li><li>Support cost roll as needed and new product costing.</li><li>Assist Cost Director with annual budget process and annual physical inventories.</li><li>Support internal customers by researching questions and investigating variances on the financial statements</li><li>Ensure proper retention, filing, and handling of accounting records</li><li>Prepare other reports and assist in special projects and analysis as required or requested by the manager.</li><li>Performs ad-hoc and cross-functional projects as assigned to support business needs and provide developmental opportunities.</li></ul>Education &amp; Experience<ul><li>Bachelors degree in finance or accounting required</li><li>7+ years of either cost accounting experience or accounting experience in a manufacturing environment required</li><li>Experience working in Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical companies preferred</li><li>Experience managing projects and building relationships with other departments required</li><li>Experience working in a fast-paced environment required</li><li>ERP experience required (Microsoft Dynamic 365 preferred)</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, &amp; Abilities<ul><li>Must have cost accounting background or willingness to learn and a strong understanding of GAAP.</li><li>Excellent communication skills.</li><li>Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).</li><li>Ability to work independently.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Innovative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.</li><li>Contribute to the environment of openness and teamwork.</li><li>Strong organizational abilities and adept at managing multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.</li></ul>Working Environment / Physical Environment<ul><li>This position will work hybrid (combination onsite and remote) in either Los Angeles or San Diego depending on the candidate’s residence.</li><li>This position will need to travel to our headquarters in El Segundo, CA as needed, minimum quarterly.</li><li>This position will interact on-site with manufacturing, supply chain and quality team members.</li><li>Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.</li><li>Lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.</li></ul>This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below.
