The Senior Full Stack Engineer will be a part of our Data Platform Development team and will perform software engineering activities in all layers of the stack including setting up the database to programming in the back end and the overall appearance of the front-end.
The Senior Full Stack Engineer daily work assignments will involve a range of issues varying in degree of complexity where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
This role is part of a strategic initiative to build a next-generation enterprise data platform that empowers data-driven decision-making across the organization. The platform will centralize data assets, standardize data pipelines, and provide self-service analytics capabilities to business users. The position will play a critical role in shaping the platform’s architecture, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and user centric.

The Senior Full Stack Engineer – Data Platform Development is responsible for designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance data systems. This includes developing APIs and microservices using technologies like Python, Node.js, or Java to support data workflows, metadata management, and authentication. The engineer builds and maintains ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Prefect-dbt, and Databricks, integrating data from APIs, databases, and streaming platforms like Kafka.

You will design and optimize both relational and non-relational databases, ensuring performance through indexing, partitioning, and caching strategies. The role also involves managing cloud infrastructure and deployments on platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform, along with implementing CI/CD pipelines and monitoring systems.

Security and compliance are key responsibilities in this role as well including encryption, access control, and audit logging to meet standards like HIPAA. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and begins to influence departmental strategy through architectural recommendations and technology evaluations. You will operate with minimal supervision and make independent decisions on complex technical challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and testing software applications and/or infrastructure

  • Proficiency in programming, preferably in Python

  • Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, and cloud-based data platforms

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform

  • Experience with Databricks, including data engineering, data science, and analytics workloads

  • Familiarity with data storage solutions such as data lakes, data warehouses, and NoSQL databases

  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)

  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and automation tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps

  • Strong understanding of software development principles, including design patterns, testing, and version control (Git)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.  

  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humanas offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


 

$106,900 - $147,000 per year


 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
