The Life & Disability Financial Underwriter computes rates for both renewing and prospective group life and disability accounts. The Life & Disability Financial Underwriter work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.The Life & Disability Financial Underwriter will work with Life, AD&D, Short Term and Long Term Disability opportunities to prepare offers for prospective and renewal clients primarily in the small and mid-market segments. Providing appropriate rationale and support to Sales, clients and other areas within the organization surrounding risk selection, financial analysis, rate computations and financial activity. Provides expense estimates and accurate analysis of financial exhibits. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction, receiving guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Two or more years of Life, AD&D, Short Term and Long Term Disability underwriting and risk analysis
- Comprehensive understanding of risk pool management, manual rating
- Knowledge of the competitor landscape
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- Customer service orientation
- Strong analysis and evaluation experience with the ability to negotiate with field partners as well as present to leadership the direction and support of options
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Large Group experience rating for Life and Disability
- Industry related course work is preferred but not required
Additional Information
- Experience with other Employee Benefits such as Dental and Vision is beneficial

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
