Youll work with C++ and web technologies (TypeScript/JavaScript) to build control systems for both remotely piloted (HOTAS) and autonomous flight modes. This role includes designing and implementing intuitive user interfaces, ranging from hands-on control to point-and-click autonomy management.</div><div><br /></div><div>Spring: around 12-16 weeks (January - April)</div><div>Summer: around 10 weeks (May - August)</div><h3>Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li>Software development on the human-machine interaction (HMI) program used by flight crew to control the aircraft and run simulations </li><li>Collaborate with flight crew to develop and assess usability of the cockpit software and hardware </li><li>Collaborate with engineers to display and control hardware systems </li><li>Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle including planning, design, implementation, review, testing, documentation, and user evaluation </li></ul><h3>Minimum Requirements:</h3><ul><li>Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (Undergraduate student (at least a rising senior) or enrolled in a Masters or Ph.D. program)</li><li>Pursuing  Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related degrees </li><li>Web Applications Experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, Electron, etc.) </li><li>C/C++ Experience  </li><li>Aviation/simulation experience </li><li>Computer Graphics coursework or experience  </li><li>Strong understanding of engineering first principles</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams</li><li>Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus mission</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>GPA of 3.0 or above</li></ul><h3>Preferred Skills and Experience: </h3><ul><li>Demonstrated knowledge or interest in aerospace industry (aviation or rocketry clubs, pilot license, DCS Ace, etc.)  </li><li>Experience working on 2D or 3D games or simulations </li><li>Cesium experience </li><li>User Interface (UI) or Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) classes </li><li>GIS (Geographic Information Systems) experience (Cesium, ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Mapbox, Google/Apple Mapsetc.) </li></ul><div><b>U.S. EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE STATUS</b><span> </span></div><div><span>The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by </span><a href="https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/section-120.62">22 C.F.R. § 120.62</a><span> or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
