Your impact
Handshake is expanding into AI research and development, building a world-class network of experts - PhDs, researchers, and subject matter specialists - who contribute to cutting-edge AI through specialized research, model evaluation, and domain-specific applications. We’re looking for a Growth Marketer to engage, grow, and nurture this expert network, ensuring experts feel valued, motivated, and well-supported.
This role is a unique opportunity to bridge academia and industry, shaping a new initiative at Handshake while collaborating with product, operations, and engineering teams to create a seamless and rewarding program experience.
This will be at our San Francisco location and this team is traditionally in the office five days a week.
Your role
- Develop and implement growth strategies to expand our AI research community of graduates.
- Create and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns, including content marketing, social media, email marketing, and paid marketing.
- Partner with internal teams to drive growth through targeted outreach, university partnerships, and academic collaborations.
- Optimize digital marketing strategies using A/B testing, analytics, and performance tracking.
- Manage and grow our presence on platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and research-focused forums
- Manage and optimize lifecycle marketing flows to nurture and retain community members throughout their engagement journey.
- Leverage SEO best practices to improve visibility and searchability.
Your experience
- 4+ years of experience in growth marketing, preferably to technical or academic audiences.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, including SEO, paid acquisition (e.g. LinkedIn, Meta, Google ads), and social media marketing.
- Experience with lifecycle marketing and CRM platforms such as Iterable or Salesforce to optimize engagement and retention strategies.
- Proficiency in analytics tools such as Google Analytics, HubSpot, or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Passion for AI research and fostering academic communities is a plus.
Bonus areas of expertise
- Experience with CRM platforms such as Iterable
- Proficient in SQL
- Familiarity with AI/ML workflows, data labeling, or model evaluation processes.
Compensation range
- $150,000-$185,000
