In this role, you’ll have the chance to help accelerate mobile engineering at Gusto by leading initiatives that will establish and improve our architecture patterns, foundational functionality, and test infrastructure. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day: <ul> <li>Architect, build, test, and refine Gusto’s Android app, along with supporting mobile web views that enhance user experience.</li> <li>Build a strong mobile foundation that feature teams can build on top of.</li> <li>Develop platform components and common features that enhance scalability, consistency, and maintainability throughout the product development lifecycle.</li> <li>Work cross-functionally with teams in product apps, identity, security, design systems, and infrastructure to deliver world-class experiences right into our customers hands.</li> <li>Enhance and maintain our Android mobile infrastructure, including build pipelines, testing automation, and the release process, to ensure smooth operations.</li> <li>Create a product that our customers truly love—don’t just take our word for it; see what our customers <a href="https://gusto.com/about/awards-recognition"> have to say</a>.</li> </ul> Here’s what were looking for: <ul> <li>A minimum of 8 years of experience in Android software engineering, with at least 12 years in mobile software engineering overall. MInimum 4 years of Kotlin.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills and a knack for building strong cross-functional partnerships.</li> <li>Experience in developing platform components and common features that enhance scalability, consistency, and maintainability throughout the product development lifecycle.</li> <li>Experience with analytics and monitoring tools to track app performance / health and user engagement.</li> <li>Experience with mobile infrastructure, including CI/CD, automated testing environments, and build &amp; release systems.</li> <li>Strong critical thinking abilities and a keen attention to detail.</li> <li>A willingness to learn continuously and a passion for mentoring others on the team</li> </ul> Bonus points: <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of Compose and/or GraphQL.</li> <li>Proficiency or familiarity with MVVM architecture.</li> </ul> Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $223,000-$265,000 for San Francisco &amp; New York and $189,000-$225,000 for Denver. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including role level, candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.<div><hr /> Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gustos subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale. Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.  When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
