As the Senior Front-End Engineer on our post-hire ecosystem team youll be our first dedicated Senior Front-End Engineer, shaping the future of our user interfaces and front-end architecture. Youll work closely with our Ruby/Rails backend engineers, leveraging AWS cloud, relational databases, and technologies like Kafka, all while driving excellence on the frontend. <h2>Who will love this job</h2> <ul> <li>An Owner - You take initiative, identify problems, and drive solutions to completion with strong autonomy</li> <li>A Collaborator - You have excellent communication skills, actively seek input, and partner effectively across teams</li> <li>A Mentor - You are patient and willing to share knowledge, enjoying uplifting the front-end expertise of teammates</li> <li>A Strategist - You are a forward-thinker who considers the long-term vision and architectural health of the front-end</li> <li>An Advocate - You champion best practices, influence adoption, and drive positive change in front-end development</li> </ul> <h2>What you’ll do</h2> <ul> <li>Design and build robust, scalable, and intuitive user interfaces for our core products, ensuring exceptional user experiences</li> <li>Lead the evolution of our front-end architecture, making key decisions on patterns, tools, and best practices to enhance flexibility, maintainability, and performance</li> <li>Actively collaborate with backend engineers on API design and data contracts, ensuring seamless and efficient integration between front-end and backend systems</li> <li>Evaluate, select, and technically integrate third-party applications and APIs, becoming a go-to expert for external service integrations</li> <li>Drive solutions end-to-end, from understanding requirements to deployment, taking strong ownership of your work</li> <li>Mentor and elevate the front-end expertise within the broader engineering team, sharing knowledge and advocating for best practices</li> <li>Contribute to a highly collaborative team, actively seeking and providing feedback to continuously improve our products and processes</li> <li>Additional projects and responsibilities as business needs require</li> </ul>   <h2>You should have</h2> <ul> <li>At least 5+ years of experience as a Front-end focused Software Engineer</li> <li>Proven experience in designing scalable and flexible front-end architectures, managing complexity, and ensuring long-term maintainability</li> <li>Proven proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and Typescript</li> <li>Strong knowledge of React (including Hooks, state management, and common patterns)</li> <li>Experience actively participating in discussions about API endpoint design and data contracts, collaborating closely with backend engineers (especially with RESTful APIs)</li> <li>The ability to read and comprehend backend code (e.g., Ruby/Rails at the controller level) to effectively understand API contracts and facilitate seamless integration</li> <li>Experience evaluating, selecting, and integrating third-party technology solutions and APIs into existing systems</li> <li>A solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3/Sass, front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack)</li> <li>Experience working with UI component libraries (e.g., Material UI)</li> <li>Familiarity with accessibility best practices and how to implement them, a plus</li> <li>Your own unique talents! The national pay range for this role is $143,000 - $214,000 CAD. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidates experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including stock option awards, bonuses, and merit increases.
