The Opportunity: The Business Applications team works together with our Cloud, Enterprise, and Grafana teams to provide the best possible experience for our customers and the most efficient workflow for our staff.  <ul> <li>We build on the grafana.com platform to provide custom solutions and integrate with the many external systems that make up a modern business environment.</li> <li>The team is responsible for critical domain areas that ensure the smooth functioning of not just our systems but also our business processes that they’re designed to solve. The team is composed of multiple squads with each focussing on one or more domain areas.</li> <li>A few important areas we work on are maintaining the billing engine that’s responsible for calculating our customers’ usage, automating the provisioning process when a customer has signed a contract with Grafana, integrating with cloud provider marketplaces (AWS, Azure, and GCP) to allow our customers to subscribe to Grafana Cloud via their cloud provider, and maintaining the user portal our customers use to manage their account. Business Applications engineers specialize in one or more of the above domain areas.</li> </ul> What You’ll Be Doing: <ul> <li>Take an active role in influencing our roadmap and your own career objectives </li> <li>Drive projects from initial ideation all the way to operations once it is in the hands of stakeholders</li> <li>Embrace our open-source culture and contribute to other projects that may not directly fall within your team’s scope</li> <li>Help design, build, operate, and maintain our critical systems, owning the reliability, performance, and availability</li> <li>Continuously make the existing code better by tackling tech debt, improving the CI/CD pipelines, and increasing test coverage</li> <li>Be a part of your team’s on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you’re running</li> <li>Collaborate with the team and stakeholders over async (Slack, Google Docs) or over meetings</li> </ul> As we are remote-first and our engineering organization is largely remote, we provide guidance and meet regularly using video calls, so an independent attitude and good communication skills are a must. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset as assessed throughout the interview process.
