GHX is seeking a Staff Software Engineer with deep technical expertise and a proven track record in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions. The Staff Software Engineer reports to the Director, SWE and will be responsible for leading the technical development efforts toward the creation, implementation, and support of existing and next-generation software solutions.  The ideal candidate will be proficient in Java and the J2EE stack, experienced in AWS cloud services, and skilled in CI/CD pipelines and software design patterns.   Duties and responsibilities   <ul> <li>Design and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems that align with business needs, creating flexible, reusable, and efficient solutions. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Lead technical design for complex stories, features, and epics, authoring technical documentation and ensuring adherence to IT control policies. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams to address technical dependencies, review ideas and concerns, and deliver high-quality products. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Identify root causes of challenges, analyze upstream and downstream impacts, and recommend impactful, broad-reaching solutions while considering corporate strategy and trade-offs. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Establish and guide best practices for design, development, testing, and Agile workflows, mentoring team members and fostering a collaborative environment. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Build and maintain strong business relationships to influence decision-making and drive innovative solutions across teams. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborate with Senior partners to ensure consistent design and coding standards are maintained across all development teams, including those led by offshore managers. </li> <li>Maintain a deep understanding of software subsystems, their components, interfaces, and data integrations to ensure seamless functionality and scalability. </li> </ul> Qualifications  <ul> <li>Requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in software development. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>BS Degree in Computer Science. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>10 years of experience designing and implementing technological solutions using Java, J2EE technologies </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Proficiency in AWS technologies including EC2, SNS, SQS, S3, SES, ESS, Lambda etc. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Expert in Databases such as mongoDB, ElasticSearch and MYSQL. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with Rules Engine and/or Event driven architecture. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Exposure to improvement in Design best practices including performance, scalability, robustness and resiliency. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Prior experience working in an AGILE/SCRUM environment. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Must be able to work independently and as part of a team on multiple overlapping projects. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Proven track record of successfully delivering large, complex, cross-functional projects.  </li> <li>Strong problem-solving and communication skills. </li> </ul> Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  <ul> <li>Proven track record of managing multiple projects and delivering high-quality results with innovation and creativity. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Communicates complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical teams. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborates seamlessly across departments with varying levels of technical expertise. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Demonstrates a strong understanding of system-wide impacts and interdependencies across products, teams, and the organization. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Develops and implements innovative solutions that challenge the status quo and drive process improvement. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Addresses internal and external customer needs effectively, with the ability to interact directly with customers. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Adapts to changing conditions with flexibility and leads others through transitions with clarity and confidence. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Leads by example, fostering teamwork, trust, and a shared purpose while promoting success and strategic thinking. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Applies Agile/LEAN principles and methodologies to improve efficiency and deliver value. </li> </ul>   Estimated Salary Range for this position: $122,000 to $163,800 The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX’s salary range for this position. The base salary is one component of GHX’s total compensation package for employees.
