The Department: Platform Our Platform organization’s purpose is to enable Gemini to scale effectively and empower our engineering teams to focus on building innovative financial products and experiences for individuals around the world. Platform focuses around building a scalable and secure foundations platform, enabling Engineering to deploy, validate, and operate their services in production, improve resiliency of the service and increase organizational efficiency by reducing operational toil and increase system efficiency through architectural evolution. The Client Platform team provides a horizontal function that supports and maintains core client development for web and mobile, testing infrastructure, frontend CI/CD pipeline development, maintaining and expanding usage of our foundational design system library, and providing standards for future client development. The team’s mission is to be the force multiplier for other client teams so that they can deliver with quality and speed. The Role: Senior Software Engineer (Mobile) You will be a core part of leading Gemini’s mobile client development platform, both by contributing to and adopting modern tooling for the mobile client from both a client architecture and its CI process, working cross-functionally across Gemini’s engineering teams to influence, and improve our development practices and culture. This role is required to be in person twice a week at either our San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY office.  Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams design, develop, and deliver high-quality mobile applications.</li> <li>Lead architectural initiatives to enhance app performance, scalability, and reliability.</li> <li>Establish and advocate for best practices in mobile development, code quality, and security standards.</li> <li>Develop efficient and reusable UI components while ensuring maintainability and reliability.</li> <li>Scope and independently implement features, making informed design and engineering decisions.</li> <li>Continuously monitor app performance, utilizing observability tools to identify and resolve issues.</li> <li>Improve developer experience through scalable app architectures and refined development processes.</li> <li>Conduct meaningful code reviews and mentor team members to foster technical growth and innovation.</li> <li>Partner with stakeholders to define and execute on architectural rollout strategies.</li> <li>Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies to incorporate best practices into the development process.</li> <li>Address cross-team engineering challenges, contributing to the overall growth and success of the organization.</li> </ul> Minimum Qualifications: <ul> <li>4+ years of experience in mobile development, including 2+ years with React Native, building scalable mobile applications.</li> <li>Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and capable of working with native mobile platforms (Swift/Objective-C and/or Java/Kotlin) as needed.</li> <li>Expertise in React Native, navigation libraries (especially React Navigation), lifecycles, state management, and performance optimization.</li> <li>Demonstrable experience in debugging, framework migrations, refactoring, and adopting mobile best practices.</li> <li>Familiarity with CI processes (e.g., GitHub Actions) and automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end).</li> <li>Able to quickly debug and address mobile performance related issues.</li> <li>Knowledge of mobile best practices and stay informed about innovations in the mobile industry and have the ability to bring in adoption for the same.</li> <li>Deep understanding of engineering excellence, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making.</li> <li>Strong collaboration skills and ability to prioritize effectively in dynamic environments.</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications: <ul> <li>Strong understanding of UX/UI concepts with a proven ability to contribute to design and product decisions.</li> <li>Experience using data to influence product decisions.</li> <li>Experience working on a Platform team.</li> <li>Experience with animation libraries like Reanimated and/or Skia.</li> <li>Experience with implementing Design System components.</li> <li>Experience with shared codebases between web and mobile.</li> <li>Knowledge of crypto and/or blockchain.</li> </ul> <div>It Pays to Work Here</div> <div> </div> <div>The compensation &amp; benefits package for this role includes:</div> <ul> <li>Competitive starting salary</li> <li>A discretionary annual bonus</li> <li>Long-term incentive in the form of a new hire equity grant</li> <li>Comprehensive health plans</li> <li>401K with company matching</li> <li>Paid Parental Leave</li> <li>Flexible time off</li> </ul> Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $140,000 - $200,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data. In the United States, we offer a hybrid work approach at our hub offices, balancing the benefits of in-person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work.
