GEICO is undergoing a bold transformation into a product- and technology-led organization. As part of this evolution, we are seeking a high-impact Senior Director of Financial Systems to lead the modernization and delivery of our enterprise financial platforms. This is a mission-critical leadership role, reporting directly to the Head of Finance and Pricing. You’ll drive the implementation strategy and execution across core finance technology systems—serving as the connector between Finance, Technology, and the broader enterprise.

We’re looking for a proven execution leader—someone who’s not only technically fluent in ERP and finance/accounting systems, but who also brings structure, direction, and clarity to complex, cross-functional initiatives. We are looking for an action-biased leader who has real-world delivery successes, executive presence, and the drive to make it happen.

Location: This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum, on-site presence of 3 days per week at our Chicago, IL; New York, NY or Chevy Chase office.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end implementation of GEICO’s financial systems roadmap, with a sharp focus on execution, delivery excellence, and long-term scalability.

• Lead and mentor a 25+ person team responsible for financial systems supporting Accounting, Treasury, Supplier Management, FP&A, and Pricing.

• Define and drive multi-year strategies for ERP modernization, partnering closely with Finance and Technology leaders to prioritize business-critical initiatives.

• Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Technology, and Product teams—translating business needs into actionable system solutions.

• Deliver with precision: apply agile methodologies and project management best practices to ensure clarity, transparency, and velocity across initiatives.

• Provide executive-level reporting on system performance, roadmap progress, risk mitigation, and alignment with business goals.

• Ensure a robust internal control environment that meets SOx and audit requirements.

• Drive continuous process and system optimization—ensuring that financial systems scale with the business and remain integrated, reliable, and user-friendly.

• Represent Finance Systems at senior leadership forums, with strong communication skills and the ability to articulate vision and direction confidently.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership in finance systems implementation, with direct accountability for large-scale ERP/platform rollouts and upgrades.

• Deep experience with financial and ERP systems such as Oracle Cloud, Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, Ariba, or Concur.

• Proven success delivering in implementation-heavy roles—not just strategy, but actual enterprise-scale execution.

• Strong domain expertise in Finance and Accounting processes; comfortable partnering with CFO-level leaders and their teams.

• Demonstrated ability to lead in an agile delivery environment and apply project management best practices (e.g., Jira, Asana, Smartsheet).

• Expertise in internal controls, SOx compliance, and financial data integrity.

• High level of executive presence, with the ability to set direction, make decisions, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.

• Sharp, structured communicator with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.

• Experience in insurance or regulated industries preferred but not required.
