Job Description Summary

As the Executive leading the Idea to Market Processes & Management System, you will spearhead a team of senior program and process leaders to define, develop, deploy, and continuously enhance the business processes and management system crucial for delivering GE HealthCare’s Innovation roadmap.

The Idea-to-Market processes and the associated management system are pivotal components of GE HealthCare’s proprietary business system, Heartbeat. This foundation will be adopted company-wide to deliver transformative healthcare solutions with speed, leveraging modern methodologies and fostering a culture of innovation.

In this newly established leadership role, you will build out sub-processes required to manage the Innovation Processes end-to-end, extending the GE HealthCare’s PRD to incorporate additional elements to support early-stage innovation, advanced technology development and reusable technology platforms. Your team will also build and institutionalize a tiered management system to facilitate funding of an innovation program portfolio aligned with company objectives, drive rigorous execution of the funded program portfolio across all segments and ensure visibility to performance of the innovations in the market.

This transformational role demands deep expertise in medical device development, exceptional communication and influencing skills, and proficiency in lean methodologies.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Idea-to-Market Process Definition and Standardization: Define, implement, and sustain standardized work practices across the company’s product development teams for key innovation management process tracks, including Annual Innovation Portfolio Selection, Early and Late-Stage Innovation Execution, Commercialization, and Optimization.
  • Institutionalize the Innovation Management System: Establish a tiered management system leveraging standardized visual management tools that encompass programs across the innovation spectrum: Early-Stage Innovation, Advanced Technology Development, New Product Introductions, and Platform Development. Create and deploy standardized KPIs to support early identification of potential issues and timely, effective problem-solving.
  • Enhance and Optimize Innovation Planning: Integrate and optimize annual innovation planning processes, encompassing world wide product planning (WWPP), technology planning (WWTP), and R&D prioritization.
  • Lean Practitioner: Apply Lean principles and methodologies such as value/value stream mapping, flow, standard work, respect for the operator, continuous improvement, and problem-solving to enhance operational mechanisms and business processes. Continuously source and integrate best practices from within and outside the company to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a team of high-performing leaders committed to GE HealthCares operating principles. Manage each innovation management process track, create standards and tools, and drive effective adoption company-wide. Collaborate with the IT team to digitize applicable tools and define and operationalize KPIs – both leading and lagging indicators. Oversee effective change management during the definition, deployment, and continuous improvement phases. Foster a team environment where analytical thinking and creative, out-of-the-box ideas thrive together.
  • Strategic Thinker and Thought Leader: Integrate best-in-class methodologies from the industry to create contemporary processes and a management system that enable GE HealthCare’s success. Establish thought leadership in the industry by representing the company in relevant external forums. Partner internally across all product development-related disciplines (e.g., R&D, marketing, product management, regulatory, quality) to elevate innovation as a collaborative effort across functional silos, with a strong customer and market focus.
  • Operational: Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the success of innovation initiatives.  Provide regular updates to senior leadership on innovation progress and outcomes. Conduct design thinking sessions to define future state processes, deliver training and coaching sessions with cross-functional teams innovation industry trends and practices, internal processes, tools and standards.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Management, Engineering, or a related field.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in R&D, product program management or product management within the MedTech, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate across multiple operating and enabling functions.
  • Deep understanding of, and experience applying Lean principles and methodologies to enhance operational mechanisms and business processes, driving continuous improvement and efficiency, with customer value creation focus.
  • Proven track record of leading successful corporate-wide initiatives, requiring collaboration and influence at all levels including executive leadership and across business units, to solve business problems and to drive change. 
  • Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; a self-starter.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading senior-level professionals across multiple global locations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, as needed.

  • Experience in a Global Medical Technology Company:Experience in a global Medical Technology company in multiple roles, that span various functions that support innovation processes and program management experience that span multiple types of products and multiple segments.
  • Product Management Expertise: Experience in product management, with a strong ability to oversee product lifecycle, from ideation to market launch, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Excellent Communicator: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively with a wide variety of audiences.

For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $216,000.00-$324,000.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
