Were leading the charge in the rapidly evolving robotics industry, and we invite you to join us in reshaping the global supply chain, one intelligent warehouse at a time.</p> <h3>About You</h3> <p>We are looking for a highly experienced, talented Staff Robotics Software Engineer (Project Lead) with a strong background in state estimation and strong software development skills. As an experienced project lead, you are technically minded but also comfortable leading very hands-on, cross-disciplinary projects or initiatives. Our ideal candidate has at least 5 years of practical experience and a strong background and familiarity with robotics (state estimation, mathematics, etc.) from their work career or degree program, enabling them to quickly contribute to and advance our initiatives.</p> <h3>What Youll Do</h3> <ul> <li>Lead the development and deployment of state estimation technologies across a variety of hardware (forklift, AGV, etc.) platforms.</li> <li>Own and lead major project efforts, driving software and mixed software/hardware initiatives within Gather AI.</li> <li>Design, implement, and test vision-based and multi-sensory state estimation systems.</li> <li>Conduct on-site visits to early customer locations to test and validate system performance in real-world environments.</li> <li>Proactively exercise the application in real-world scenarios, identifying areas for architectural enhancement and implementing improvements to vehicle/pallet state estimation and task tracking logic/workflow screens.</li> <li>Diagnose and resolve issues related to physical hardware that may impact software performance, such as advising on camera positioning or mitigating vibration problems.</li> <li>Work closely with the Material Handling Equipment team and our talented deployment engineering team to ensure that the product is delivering value to our customers.</li> </ul> <h3>What Youll Need</h3> <ul> <li>At least five years of relevant software development experience (outside academia).</li> <li>Experience leading technical projects that span software and hardware.</li> <li>Strong mathematical background, ideally with robotics experience including state estimation, computer vision, or other relevant complex/dynamic systems.</li> <li>Strong C++ coding skills, ready to hit the ground running, contribute efficiently to the project, and read/improve code.</li> <li>Comfort with Linux/command-line tooling, remote debugging, etc.</li> <li>Ability to be pragmatic, fast, and attentive to detail.</li> <li>Strong and precise communication skills.</li> <li>Computer Science or Engineering degree (MS or PhD preferred).</li> <li>Able to work in the US.</li> <li>Willing to undertake required travel.</li> <li>Ability to work locally in Pittsburgh (resident or willing to relocate).</li> </ul> <h3>Bonus points for...</h3> <ul> <li>Visual and multi-modal robot state estimation experience, and/or strong relevant mathematical background.</li> <li>Familiarity with OS and Network Infrastructure.</li> <li>Experience with ROS, ROS2, or other robotics middleware.</li> </ul> <h3>Compensation and Benefits</h3> <ul> <li>Compensation package will include equity</li> <li>Comprehensive health insurance</li> <li>Very flexible schedule</li> <li>Customized PTO</li> <li>Relocation assistance available</li> </ul> <p>If this sounds like a good fit wed love to meet you.
