Our Passion. Our Approach. </b></p><p></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p>We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Ignition Software Engineer to design, develop, and support industrial automation solutions using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform. This role focuses on hands-on development, implementation, and optimization of SCADA, HMI, and IIoT systems, working closely with engineering and IT teams to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable automation projects.<br /><br />The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Ignition, a solid background in industrial control systems, and a good understanding of IT security practices. You will contribute to project delivery, standardization, and continuous improvement, collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting best practices in automation.</p><p></p><h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Develop, configure, and deploy Ignition-based SCADA/HMI systems for industrial automation projects.</li><li>Build and maintain standardized Ignition templates, UDTs, and scripting solutions to ensure consistency and reusability.</li><li>Implement and support secure integration with enterprise systems, databases, and cloud platforms.</li><li>Apply role-based access control (RBAC), secure authentication (e.g., SSO, LDAP), and encrypted communications (SSL/TLS) as directed.</li><li>Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure system reliability and scalability.</li><li>Stay current with Ignition platform updates and new modules; recommend improvements to existing systems.</li><li>Document technical solutions, configurations, and procedures for ongoing support and knowledge sharing.</li><li>Collaborate with controls engineers, IT, and cybersecurity teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions.</li><li>Support disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and system maintenance activities.</li><li>Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.</li></ul><p></p><h2>Required Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field.</li><li>6+ years of experience in industrial automation, with at least 2 years focused on hands-on Ignition platform development.</li><li>Inductive Automation Ignition Core Certification (Perspective).</li><li>Proficiency in Python (Jython) scripting within Ignition.</li><li>Experience with SQL databases (Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres).</li><li>Familiarity with Perspective &amp; web basics (HTML/CSS/JS).</li><li>Understanding of communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, API’s, SSL/TCP).</li><li>Solid knowledge of network security, firewalls, VLANs, and secure data transmission in OT environments.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and communication skills.</li></ul><p></p><h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Certifications (Preferred but not required):<ul><li>Inductive Automation Ignition Gold Certification (Perspective).</li><li>ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Certification.</li><li>Microsoft Certified: Azure IoT Developer or AWS IoT Specialty.</li></ul></li><li>Experience with regulated industries (e.g., food &amp; beverage, pharmaceuticals, energy).</li><li>Familiarity with DevOps practices and version control (e.g., Git).</li><li>Experience with cloud integration (Azure IoT, AWS Greengrass).</li><li>Linux administration (RHEL).</li><li>Exposure to Ignition SDK &amp; module development.</li><li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.</li><li>Knowledge of Agile/Scrum-based project delivery.</li><li>Strongly Preferred:<ul><li>Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration for deploying and managing Ignition environments.</li><li>Experience with enterprise gateway networks and redundant architectures for multi-site deployments.</li></ul></li></ul><p></p><p><span>The base salary range for this role is $87,600 to $131,300.  This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position.
